보완수사권을 남기는 건 검찰개혁을 처음으로 되돌리는 것이다. 국회가 법으로 검찰 직접 수사 범위를 줄여놨는데, 시행령으로 다시 검찰이 수사권을 가져가는 순간 개혁은 원점으로 돌아간다. 그 결과 검찰은 중요한 사건, 정치적 사건 위주로만 골라서 수사하고 사회적 약자 사건은 소홀해진다.
윤석열 명예훼손을 명분으로 3,000명이 넘는 사람들 개인정보를 대량 수집하고 7개월 뒤에야 통보한 사례가 대표적이다. “피해자 보호”를 내세우며 보완수사권을 유지하려는 움직임은 결국 검찰 기득권을 지키려는 것에 불과하다.

지금 당장 수사와 기소를 완전히 분리해야 한다. 시민이 만든 형사소송법 개정안을 7월 안에 원안 그대로 통과시켜라.

<현장 경찰관도 '제복 입은 시민'입니다>

잠실 시위 현장에 배치된 경찰관을 향한 일부 시위대의 모욕과 조롱이 도를 넘어섰습니다. 경찰관을 '가짜 경찰'로 몰거나, 욕설을 하고, 심지어는 감금과 폭행까지 서슴지 않고 있다 합니다. 도저히 납득할 수도 없고 용납하기도 어려운 일들이 백주 대낮에 버젓이 벌어지고 있습니다.

경찰관도 누군가의 소중한 가족이며 제복을 입은 '시민'입니다. 시민의 안전과 인권을 보호하고 있는 경찰에 대한 폭력행위는 시민들을 위험에 빠뜨리고, 민주주의 공론장을 훼손하는 결과를 낳게 될 뿐입니다.

시민들의 자유로운 의사표현과 토론은 마땅히 보장되어야 하지만, 선을 넘는 행위까지 용인할 수는 없습니다. 현장 경찰관과 주변 시민들에 대한 비상식적인 폭력행위가 더이상 벌어지지 않길 바랍니다.

여러 어려움 속에서도 공동체의 질서 유지를 위해 헌신하고 있는 경찰관 여러분께 깊은 감사를 전합니다.
