Rob Sand says Iowa’s budget is a mess. Let’s look at the facts.
When Republicans took the majority, Iowa’s top income tax rate was 8.98%. It’s now 3.8% — flat — one of the lowest in the nation. That’s not reckless spending. That’s returning money to Iowans who were being overtaxed.
Yes, revenue is down — by design. The Taxpayer Relief Fund was built specifically to bridge this transition. Iowa ended FY2024 with $2 billion in the General Fund, $961 million in reserves, and $3.75 billion in the Taxpayer Relief Fund. We’re managing spending under 2% growth while the economy catches up to the cuts — exactly as planned.
Rob Sand is the State Auditor. He knows this. Calling a planned surplus drawdown a “fiscal time bomb” isn’t accountability. It’s politics.
Thinking about the potential @JDCLASSIC . Another @PGATOUR miss. How many events have a soul? How many sponsors are actually a part of the community & make the onsite fun for the family & not just corporate tents. The event has an identity and should be elevated not trashed. 🤮
Hey - better idea. Bring back the Western Open and play it in Chicago.
Leave the Quad Cities alone! 55 years in the community. The fans turn out to watch. Local charities benefit.
Dakota Gas has switched from making DEF to making granular urea at 46% nitrogen at their Great Plains Synfuels Plant near Beulah, North Dakota.
Capacity is 1,100 short tons per day.
Maybe we can just stop with the DEF altogether……… sure burning fertilizer in fuel is cool but having food is a fuck of a lot cooler.
The USA burns enough DEF in diesel engines per year to cover all of Canada’s farming fertilizer needs.
Choose wisely, Iowa…
As someone from a Democrat state, I promise you: If you think a Democrat is “moderate” in the year 2026, you are mistaken.
These democrats are radical lunatics that bring nothing but fraud, corruption, poverty, welfare, and foreigners to their states
