@adesertdryad For real. Plastic toys only exist to give the boomer grandparent a feel-good rush. We’re going to start requesting contribution to the ballet lesson fund instead
@selentelechia I’m a transplant to DC which is supposed to be worse, but is actually fine because everyone is similarly cash strapped and sort of intellectual. Minnesota sounds..hard
@berrysweetmum There are three ok ways to handle a “mothering difference”, and only three:
-Call CPS (abusive/neglectful)
-Talk to the mother privately and offer information and support (suboptimal/problematic but not abusive)
-Keep your mouth shut (everything else)
Gossip ain’t one
@chlosiphus Yeah, motherhood was transformative bc I was just a young adult who needed to grow up, but both my babies have been moderate to low needs and I openly acknowledge that
@jmrphy If you do good dad things, you’re a good dad. Your feelings are ok to have. There will probably be another phase of parenting you’ll enjoy more. I’d say the same to a mom
@xwanyex At a minimum, be polite and respectful to conservative married mothers, the women who are already on your side. Online right continually fails this most basic test
@DuckieLouise Yeah, I get how she feels! But also “let’s go grab coffee while the kids nap, I’d love to catch up” is a low risk thing to say. I get growing up in a dysfunctional family and not learning those relational skills
@berrysweetmum Yeah. If you think you “don’t like other women” you either a) have had bad luck with a particular group/type of women or b) are failing or refusing to understand female norms of communication (which are not all evil and censorious and bad)
