I have a student this year who is new to our school. They are currently reading 8 wpm with 60% accuracy.
It’s infuriating that this child has been failed by adults by making it to 3rd without being taught to read.
Buckle up Kiddo, it’s time you learn.
Thanks to @Bowtiedthinker inspiring me, I made a coloring book! Feathered Friends Owl Coloring is the first of many Owl coloring books I plan on making!
It was a blast to make and even more fun to color. Follow the link below to purchase one!

Actual feedback from an observation- "Don't play a video for the whole class, that's teacher centered. Have each of them play it on their laptops, that's student centered"
Yesterday I asked my kindergartener what she did in school and she said "nothing," then later I went on Instagram and her teacher had posted a picture of her holding a crocodile.
If a 2nd grade word problem on a standardized test is written at a 3rd or 4th grade reading level, then you aren’t testing for math, you’re testing for above grade level reading. And doesn't reflect student knowledge of actual 2nd grade math curriculum.
Do you know what's worse than teachers having to crowdfund online for school supplies?
A district prohibiting teachers from publicly crowdfunding for supplies they need because it “makes the district look bad,” and therefore forcing teachers to buy the supplies themselves.
Neurotypicals be like: “I organized your kitchen for you! It works SO MUCH BETTER NOW, aren’t you grateful?!?!?”
Us, surveying the damage, knowing it will take us weeks to put shit back in a way that makes sense for us: …uh, yes. Yes, of course thank you.
Them: WELL YOU DON’T SEEM GRATEFUL!
Us: 😒😒😒😒
