BC government will plan a new elementary school in Burnaby's booming Brentwood district.
It's the most expensive public school project in BC history.
With space for 800 students, it could also be BC's largest elementary school. #bcpoli#vanpoli#vanre

I’m so tired of #bcpoli govts (all of them) dragging their feet instead of funding obviously needed school space. This is making so many families’ lives more difficult and stressful than they need to be. Enough already. #bced
@CityofVancouver Looking forward to the seawall reopening! The Columbia closure doesn't seem to be sitting well with drivers. In the span of 5 minutes there were multiple drivers disregarding the closure - and even driving in the "safe" bike lane. Hope we can make this closure more clear!
🌳 We’re excited to share proposed designs for East Park, a new waterfront park coming to False Creek!
From today until April 16, have your say on two concept visions which propose a mix of habitat areas, connections and welcoming spaces.

Vancouver's "bike streets" are sadly not safe enough for the majority.
Tell the city we deserve better by signing the petition.

Imagine having your neighbourhood school close its doors to your children even though you're living in the catchment area. School construction has simply not kept up with predictable population growth. Changes in the process are much needed! #bced#bcpoli

I don't want to do the #FOIA stuff. @BCNDPCaucus, you made a mistake trying to charge $10.
Anybody have the data for Kindergarten Lotteries by year?
What about this #CAC data? Anybody have the data on where the monies were raised and where they were spent?
@vikkhanna@VaughnPalmer @simisara980 Not sure I would call it "on time" - but happy they will celebrate it:
"...begin in June 2021 for a completion by the fall of 2023."
hi @cityofvancouver has there been any progress in the last two months? This high-traffic section of the seawall is still closed and the weather is turning to spring. Do you have an ETA for a reopening?
@LcpVan@BC_Housing@perkinswill@thinkmodus@pwlpartnership So I was chatting with @PtFry about the need for City Councilors to be liaisons to schools.
Here's an example of why:
The @VSB39 has NO PLAN to ever make Thunderbird Elementary School safe; rather it has covert plans for land disposition. This is fundamentally unfair, #vanpoli.
Approximately 270 children in Vancouver about to enter Kindergarten are on wait-lists to get into 15 separate schools across the city.
It happens year after year, and it won't be getting better for a while.

@vancouverobert @BrendaBaileyBC Would love to hear your guess on what will happen when that green area becomes home to thousands... Could we aim for waitlists for every grade? #vanpoli
Friend applied to catchment school for Kindergarten and is 57th on wait list. She is a single mom. teaches at this school, and doesn’t drive. Being told there is no room at the school two blocks away.Daughter has to go to a school 40 minute bus ride away. How are you fixing this?
Reality = Nothing announced in Vancouver! #vanpoli
Not even Olympic Village 🏫
@GeorgeChowBC is not talking about David Thompson or the need for a school in the River District. Why?
@MichaelLeeBC still not provided any answers on VSB land disposition & enrolment issues. Why?
@KeaGru The question is - how many kids didn't win the lottery in your catchment? All those families are struggling to recalculate their future with @VSB39.
It's a SAD first interaction with our glorious public school system. #vanpoli#bcelection2024
