It is becoming increasingly easier to start an online business.

Every day that goes by, another tool, another opportunity, another system to streamline processes is created.

Basically a shiny object is created every day.. 🙄

While these things can make our lives easier, and provide new business opportunities, they can suck away our attention and make it difficult to focus.

So what the heck do we do? What’s the best option?

The best way to answer this is just finding what’s interesting to us, what hobbies do we enjoy, what lights us up?

Like for me, Facebook Ads was always interesting, helping people was, and IS, always something I focus on, and life dealt me cards that gave me a few years experience in the Home Service space.

So I put it all together with a digital marketing agency specializing in Facebook ads for home service contractors.

Then I had an audience to serve and we have expanded, and continue to expand, with some of those “shiny objects,” that come out and help our clients get better results.

But we didn’t start with everything at once..

I picked one market to serve, I picked one result to serve them, and I picked one tool to deliver that result.

Once we mastered that result, we added new things in one by one.

In the loud and busy world of digital businesses, it’s easy to get distracted.

So pick one industry, one result and one tool and just start having conversations genuinely offering to help those people out.

You may start slow because you’re “leaving money on the table.” But I guarantee your success will compound faster, and you will have a more firm foundation to grow upon.

My dad passed away seven years ago.

He was perfectly healthy until one day he wasn't.

The biggest blessing he gave me was that he was always there.

My dad owned a small business and was quite successful.

He also choose not to continue to expand so he could spend more time with me, my brothers, and my mom.

The money wasn't the end goal for him.

It allowed him to coach my baseball teams, be at important life events, and teach me everything he knew.

I tell you this because when my dad got sick, I remember telling him the thing I appreciated the most was that "he was always there".

It wasn't the house we lived in.
It wasn't the car he bought me at 16.
It wasn't the travel baseball teams he paid for.

It was that he was there, present in my life.

My dad passed away too soon but I appreciate now more than ever the times I get to spend with my kids. I realize the importance of those memories. I know that one day I won't be able to tell how much I love them.

This weekend was a perfect example, a dad/son trip.

We fished.
We talked about life.
We learned about Jesus.

It was everything that mattered.

So remember my friends, there will come a day when everyone's time on this Earth runs out. It is your choice how you spend that time. Use it wisely.
