Americans: I use miles and pounds
Europeans: I use kilometres and kilograms
Canadians: [snorting a line of assorted measuring systems] I'm 5'3, I weigh 150lbs, horses weigh 1000kgs, my house is an hour away and I drive 80 km/h to get there, I need a cup of flour and 1L of milk
Did you know there are grants available to help fund scicomm efforts? I wrote a blog for @scientifyRES about communication beyond the research article - check it out :)

Local stories around the Pukaskwa National Park (Canada) talk about figures that float above the frozen lakes in the winter months. Some claim they are the souls of people who died trapped under the ice.
My springy babies; Vorticella. They have a stalk, like a flower. The stalk contains a very thin biological spring and Vorticella can contract it by changing Calcium ions in the stalk. The contraction is very fast, and that’s how Vorticella avoids hungry predators.

Fascinating seminar from Sergueï Fetissov this morning on how ClpB from enterobacteria contributes to eating disorder development. After all those years staring at it through the microscope, its wild to learn how it affects people. https://t.co/K8hqozs2L5
We've been exploring different model organisms with Chris @CPToret. Here is a 6 day timelapse we took of the good old slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum! Stay tuned for more...
This beautiful picture of purple bacteria was taken by Jan Kepič during his free-dive in lake Milada, Czechia. For more pictures see https://t.co/R1d8eO8RxZ
@BrunLabCaulo@futurescapes It's about a scientist whose research keeps them moving to different planets, if you can believe that 😅. It explores how identities are constructed (or tries to at least!)
Very excited for 2022--it's starting off with some amazing things, including being given the great opportunity to attend the @futurescapes workshop with the sci-fi novel I wrote last year! #Futurescapes_2022
