The elusive ghost pipe (𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘢 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘢) can only be seen in bloom. It parasitizes soil fungi that are symbiotic with tree roots.

The Bessey Unit (after botanist Charles Bessey) is a century-old experiment, with 20,000 acres of hand-planted forest (still the largest in the western hemisphere) surrounded by the vast sandhills prairie.

1- reminds me of Araceae houseplants

2- ferns on far L and R, hosta on the L, hydrangeas by the hosta, maybe tulips, irises, or stylized grass in the middle? Deciduous trees on either side

3- grasses and little saplings or lianas in front of deciduous hardwoods
