To finish the week on a high note, with @Spencer_D60, @sciborgess and @magneticinsight we’ve just been awarded an EPSRC Impact Acceleration Award to develop our protein coated magnetic nanoparticles as potential tracers for Magnetic Particle Imaging! Can’t wait to get started!
Awesome second day of @MSFsci Scientific Days, all about exciting innovations! Feel inspired by their work, and impressed at how research intensive MSF are. Sketched some of today's speakers, great way to remember faces and names 😁
Thoroughly enjoyed @MSFsci Scientific Days today! A virtual conference so well done looking forward to the Innovation sessions tomorrow. Still time to register, it's well worth it! 👇
MSF Scientific Days International (London) 2020 begins tomorrow! It's online, open to all and free. Register here: https://t.co/jBOwYPZuic and get ready to participate in the conversation. #MSFsci
So @sciborgess and I thought - can we magnetize growth factors instead 🤔? Growth factors are proteins that can make cells produce a certain type of tissue (e.g. cartilage, bone)...if we made magnetic growth factors then we could move them and maybe build complex tissues!
@sciborgess@Pingosaurus and others then magnetized cells using cationized magnetoferritin. This took just 1 minute, with the cells responding to an external magnet and detectable by MRI...check it out here in @nanoscale_rsc: https://t.co/k9uEwHyokn ... more on magnets tomorrow!
Just shut down all my equipment, cleaned my bench and left @CMMBristol for the last time in a while... I'm gonna miss the sight of this building! #UKlockdown#COVID19
@romygill_ I wasn't able to dm you (you don't follow me) but have a friend (not on Twitter) who's a chef and would really like to help with your fantastic project! I follow you now, so could you please dm me your email address so I can pass it on to him? Thanks :)
