We're hiring! Come join a fantastic team. Biology and potentially AP Biology at Grandville High School. Let me know if you have any questions. https://t.co/f4vey413k1
@andrechemist Agreed! We can't teach them all of chem, but we can teach them to be chemists. We reworked our chem courses and cut anything that wasn't essential a core understanding of chem. It was a painful process, but so worth it. @IBchemmilam is right, evidence-based over claim-based!
A @Radiolab podcast sent me down a rabbit hole reading about the Zeigarnik Effect. It certainly supports helping science students pursue answers to their questions and solutions to problems, rather than pursuing vocab definitions. #chemchat#ngss#iteachphysics
Retired my Spec20's in favor of @VernierST Colorimeters. They worked seamlessly with my students' chromebooks! Some gorgeously linear data today as we determined the percent of Cu in brass. #apchem#chemtwitter
JUST, WOW.๐
Grab the popcorn because the @NASAPersevere rover has sent us a one-of-kind video of her Mars landing. For the first time in history, we can see multiple angles of what it looks like to touch down on the Red Planet. #CountdownToMars
@NGSS_tweeps@create4stem@CarbonTIME Thanks for sharing! Certainly some decisions that must be made to produce a curriculum for broad distribution. We chose to have students simmer on the topic longer and give them space to develop models more consistent with HSPS1-4, 2-4 & 3-2 as we built a multi-course storyline.
@NGSS_tweeps@create4stem@CarbonTIME 1/2 First off, huge fan of this very thoughtful curriculum. A question that has really bugged me: Why was it decided to model bond energy (your twist ties) incorrectly? The model suggests energy is released when bonds are broken and that the C-C and C-H bonds are โhigh energy.โ
