Defibrillator and Lead Extraction surgery today. They asked me if there were any questions when I was in the OR. As a Science teacher, the only question I had was: "when you take the device out of my heart, can I keep it to show my students?"
Insurance, no matter what it's called or who it's through, is still just a joke we are all a part of. Let me know when the joke is over, it's getting old.

AI is not going anywhere. Teaching your students to use it is not lazy, it's just plain smart. The amount of information my students have gathered in 30 minutes is insane. They were even thinking of better, more efficient ways of asking the questions in ChatGPT. How cool is that?
Scientific and technological progress has slowed. Hundreds of studies show this. For example, growth in processor performance was 52% per year in 2003, now it's less than 3%. Yet, US elementary students spend an average of 18 minutes in Science per day. It's sad nobody cares.
After watching Coach Prime's halftime and post game speeches, I am left realizing a powerful truth. It is our job as teachers and coaches to push students/athletes to BELIEVE in the work, BELIEVE in the practice, BELIEVE in the process, and BELIEVE in their ability. Easy enough.
First tweet. Science TEKS say 40% labs. That's roughly 60 labs per year. The department budget is only $1000. There are 1500 students. That means, per student, we can spend about $0.60 for ALL of our labs. And that means for each lab we can only spend $0.01 per student.
Engagement, instruction, classroom management, campus culture, discipline, safety, etc, are interconnected. None are dependent on another in exclusivity. Just because studies show a relationship between two things does not prove causation.
@willietb keeping his boys focused, no matter the score. Telling them a good 1st half means nothing if you don't finish. Academics or sports, our message is the same. Start strong, end strong. #TLW
