I literally had to leave the US after he was elected because he messed with the @ActualEPAFacts and I could not continue my postdoc #trumprefugee. I am a world leading expert in #eDNA and... uh, I call bullshit! Shame on you for taking credit for other people's work.
Science has ALWAYS been political.
If you can separate science from politics it means you have unaddressed privilege.
Who does science is political. Where science is done is political. The way science is done is political.
Address your privilege if you want to improve science.
@ChinaDaily Oh good, another shiny new project they’ll forget about and stop supporting regardless of its popularity.
...I’m not still bitter about Google Reader.
#AcademicTwitter: I used to be a horrible scientific writer. I was paralyzed by writing anxiety & it took me FOREVER to write papers. Last year I published 14 scientific articles (8 first, 2 second, 2 senior-author) & 2 book chapters.
A thread⬇️on how I became more productive:
To all the people resisting, for whatever reasons, wearing masks, that resistance will not only increase spread of #Covid19, put people's health and lives at risk, but also will cost billions or trillions of dollars in economic damage due to extending/requiring more shutdowns
REMINDER: CA, you are now REQUIRED to wear a mask in public spaces.
We’re seeing too many people with faces uncovered. Wearing a face covering is critical for keeping people safe and healthy, keeping businesses open and getting people back to work.
Do your part. Wear your mask.
There are lynchings happening all across this country right now. My family is calling me, terrified for my safety because I do research in a region drowning in racism, and I’m scared, too.
The least of my concerns, but this is getting in the way of my research on multiple levels
I was criticized on my NIH F31 grant app last year bc “the elegance of the research plan was from the mentor” & they wanted to see the research plan written in my own words “however immature.” I clearly stated I wrote the research plan in the same application #BlackintheIvory
Attended a great #NSF Jumpstart Grantsmanship workshop by @HSISTEMhub this week! Hoping to see a lot more HSI education research proposals in the future!
Our website is up! Please visit to learn more about our undergraduate science education project centered around microbes on ocean plastic https://t.co/qCoRdVgIQr Psst, if interested, our next field trip is planned for February 22...
Spoiler Alert: Unless you have walked the walk of the African American experience in this country, it is difficult — not impossible — but difficult, to know what that journey is on the daily. Trust me when I say, being Black in America is not for the weak of heart.
