AHFSD's Global Emerging Infections Surveillance team joined representatives from global agencies, governments, and NGOs at @BAOSystems DHIS2 Symposium. ✨GEIS is exploring this health information management system to support its network of laboratory partners.
AFHSD’s Senior Data Strategist Stephanie Cinkovich, PhD., represented the Global Emerging Infections Surveillance Branch at the Force Health Protection Luncheon held @FtLibertyNC. These events help GEIS to develop products that meet the dynamic demands of military operations.
The Health Surveillance team is #DHAProud as they stand in the DOD Serum Repository to highlight this longstanding and vital asset to medical surveillance within the U.S. Armed Forces. The DODSR is the world’s largest serum repository of its kind. Happy 10th Birthday @DoD_DHA!
Army Capt. John Eads, chief medical entomologist at Public Health Command – Pacific, along with Stephanie Cinkovich, a Senior Data Strategist for GEIS, review details for piloting the Battle Ready Risk Report approach to pre-exercise surveillance for Exercise Talisman Sabre 2023.
When you’ve been in the top 0.5% of Taylor Swift’s listeners for at least 3 years running and still have zero tickets to her upcoming tour… 😑😭 at least there are still international dates on the way! #spotifywrapped2022@taylorswift13@taylornation13@tswifterastour
@tswifterastour I’m looking for 3 tickets to the May 13th Philly show. We already have our hotel, train and dinner reservations booked! Couldn’t get through on the Capital One presale. 🙌🏼
Thanks to legendary coach and former Wildcat Head Coach @CoachCink for stopping by and giving our guys a pre-game speech before our state semi finals match up! Give Coach Cink a quick 3 🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 !! Gooo catss!

Navy Cmdr. Matthew Kasper, AFHSD's Global Emerging Infections Surveillance Branch Chief, is flanked by members of his staff at the @ASTMH Annual Meeting in Seattle, Wash. #TropMed22@wrair
So sad to see him go, but it was a privilege to work with Capt Pimentel this last year at GEIS. He is a tremendous leader and am glad we are keeping him in the NCR sphere.
Navy Capt. Guillermo Pimentel, PhD, will serve as the new Deputy Director for Biodefense Research at the Naval Medical Research Center. As chief of Global Emerging Infections Surveillance, Pimentel oversaw many new initiatives and projects—including data responses to COVID-19.🙌
We recently visited the Navy Entomology Center of Excellence (NECE) in Jacksonville, Florida. NECE uses resin-sealed specimens in entomology courses to display pests and vectors found in the field. NECE trains #entomologists and environmental science and engineering officers.
The organization I work at, GEIS, is highlighted as we support the network of “overseas military facilities that form the basis for an effective international infectious disease surveillance effort”. We have amazing partners and our impact is growing!

@CoachJDJohnson Don’t I know it!!! I know this isn’t the last football will hear of him - just onto a new frontier of how he can impact both coaches and players alike!
This is a huge loss to the football world and all those who were lucky enough to experience his mentorship and coaching expertise over the years. Selfishly - I’m so excited!! Trips with pops all summer and into the fall... unheard of!
Funding from @ghitfund will advance a UF researcher's "mop up" malaria vaccine to clinical trials in people. Designed differently from all others, it will immunize mosquitoes via people. https://t.co/3WQ7xoQOcT @UFNews@UFVetMed@UFExplore
This is truly impressive, especially since resources in most countries were diverted to deal with COVID-19 for the past year+. Funding for vector control and preventive measures often are the first to get cut during financially hard times. 🙌🏼 #consistencywins
GOOD NEWS!
Côte d'Ivoire🇨🇮 has officially eliminated “sleeping sickness”! The country is now the second African country to eliminate the disease, with the last case reported in 2019.
Congratulations @Gouvci, health responders, communities & partners! https://t.co/fgq7jrNU85
Okay, not only is this an incredible article laying out how and why bats make great reservoirs... but it’s giving me serious next tattoo inspiration vibes. https://t.co/5lcIMzt7Bh
