Hi everyone, I'm a MSc student in the Kidd Lab and I'm studying whether a hungry little caterpillar called the spruce budworm affects mercury cycling in stream food webs.. #LaurentianPrarieResearch@LaurentianSETAC (1/)
From poster to paper!
How does spruce budworm defoliation impact in-stream algal production and carbon use by food webs?
@scisally studied 12 streams in the Gaspé Peninsula to find out➡️https://t.co/hiBXe1y5QO

Many Canadians know about The Group Of Seven, but have you heard of the Indigenous Group of Seven?
Formally known as the Professional Native Indian Artists Incorporation, it was formed in 1973 with seven Indigenous artists to promote Indigenous art.
These are the artists

I'm so glad I got to participate as an instructor for the FREED Toronto Zoo event!
I loved running my workshop on benthic macroinvertebrates and it was very meaningful to be a part an event geared towards BIPOC students
We hosted our first event of the year from May 12th-14th at @thetorontozoo and had an amazing time with numerous workshops!

@KirkwoodLab @SJC_fishy @QUBioStation Glad you said it first, I couldn't see the nest (and I even tried viewing the photo with my polarized glasses on 😉)
Hey #IAGLR23 presenters! Can you please share your pronouns when you introduce yourselves at the start of your talk? Even if you think folks already know them, it helps normalize the practice for trans/gnc folks when we do so to avoid misgendering when our work is discussed.
FREED is hosting an exciting naturalist skill-buiding weekend event at @TheTorontoZoo for undergraduate students from @McMasterU and @uofg who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or Racialized!

I'm sharing some findings from MSc research at the #SCAS_SCSA2023 poster session tonight!
Come by if you want to chat about defoliation in the Gaspé peninsula, stream food webs, and mercury! 🐛🌲🐟🌊
@__jreid is doing an amazing job describing how supervisors have a huge impact on motivating (or discouraging) students + how aquatic sciences is changing from being unapproachable field to one that is more social and community-centric #SCAS_SCSA2023@FishCASTCanada
Happy International day of women and girls in science! I love seeing diversity in natural sciences and aquatic ecology and hearing other researchers' ideas about promoting inclusivity in this field
