@JustinAion Yes they are a tool. But not a crutch. I have a classroom of 11th graders who can’t assess whether the calculator gives a reasonable answer! We need to change how we do it
@JustinAion It’s not as much as how we were taught but the fundamental building block skills. When 5th & 6th graders depend on calculators, building numeracy skills suffers.
@DrKChilds I think higher socioeconomic families are able to nurture skills from a young age so when older they test better. The testing is the problem.
@sarahkbingler Geography is awesome! My kid is going into a related field and I’m very proud of him. Geography grads have great job opportunities - planning, environmental support, gis… the list is large. Congrats to your son!
Ontario Math Educators! Does anyone have experience spiraling the MCR3U course? Looking for ideas to help alleviate quadmester stress! #MCR3U#MTBOS#iteachmath#Math
@JustLB I hated math in school. Found it boring. As a math teacher I now make it my goal to at least make my classes interesting. It was easier as a physics teacher. 🙂
@mrs_adams_cyw @Brent_Ach @imgrund It shows a fundamental willingness to vaccinate their kids once the option becomes available, but I don’t think that’s the intention. I believe medically it makes no difference.
I'm teaching #MCF4U Advanced Functions for the first time in the fall. Any Ontario Teachers have resources / suggestions that they are willing to share? #MTBoS#mathteacher
Teachers who use #GoogleClassroom - What programs are you using to create custom headers for your forms? I want easy!! Including some bitmojis and cute text. Nothing photoshop quality. Help!
