An example of how we support SC AHEC and the state with workforce data.
Does it surprise you that our health workforce in rural counties is a bit more diverse than in urban?

Nice shout out to our workforce friends at the Iowa Health Professions Tracking Center. Their data show that the # of MDs has been declining and the # of DOs increasing outside of IA's 11 most urban counties (out of 99 total counties).
Wonder how that shakes out for SC...
Ever wonder what health workforce research has to do with AHECs?

We love this table from that same report. Look at how widely the counts of dentists vary between sources. It's so important to understand where data are coming from, how they are counted, and their potential limitations.

Interesting, timely dashboard from AIDPH. In SC, we're hearing folks talk about dental labor shortages - particularly dental hygienists and assistants. Would be interesting to see 2022 data added to this.
The dashboard uses BLS data. AIDPH acknowledges in their Oct 2022 report that this undercounts dentists because BLS doesn't include self-employed. https://t.co/ucupGqDaBu
New report: @DisabilityRtsSC and IMPH have released a new report on opportunities for SC to strengthen home + community-based services for people with disabilities. Read the full report: https://t.co/sFMurNjlqA
