Sadly, the loudest Solheim Cup in history didn’t reverberate across the Atlantic. The event’s TV ratings in the U.S. were nothing short of a gut-punch to those who observed its success on the ground.

Josh Carpenter of the Sports Business Journal shared the startling numbers on X: 179,000 watched on Golf Channel Saturday and, despite an 8-8 score heading into singles, viewership dropped to 170,000 on Sunday, when Europe came out on top.

To put that in perspective, consider that three years ago when the event was held in Spain, Sunday’s viewership numbers on Golf Channel were 277,000.

That’s a 39 percent drop in viewership.

In 2015, the last time the U.S. won on foreign soil, Golf Channel coverage averaged 227,000 viewers.

According to multiple people I spoke with Michael Block walked off the course in the Senior European Tour event after the 12th hole today in the final round of the PGA Seniors

According to the multiple people I spoke with, the word in the locker room was he didn't say anything to his playing partners.

Multiple people said it was known Block was frustrated with the course conditions.

This morning he showed up to his tee time late and was given a two-stroke penalty.

He shot an opening nine of 43 and after a bogey on 12, he walked in.

On the leaderboard he is listed as a DQ.

He was in the field on a sponsors exemption.

Adding your name to a memorial already named in honor of a great man doesn’t make you a great man. Quite the contrary. Putting your name on top of someone else’s doesn’t mean that people will speak of you in the same breath as the other man. Putting your name above another man’s name on his existing memorial… What is that about? Truly? What’s that about? Do you want people to speak the names as one? Dig down deep. What are you trying to say? I’m really interested. There is no other president who would do this. None. Zero. In fact, it’s not even legal. Congress named the performing arts center as a living memorial in 1964, and only congress can change that law.

This will always be the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Art. A great man would have said to his hand picked board, “Thank you, but the building already has its name. Let it stand. Let it be. I don’t need that.” But then again…
