The actions were obvious, though. I think people suffer from only seeing things from their own lifespan, and forget that countries are much older and were normally built around an ethnicity. There's a reason Americans who come to Britain think it's similar.

Hence, most of the declarations consistently said their rights as Englishmen should not be infringed, and they made laws that only allowed a very specific ethnic group to get citizenship; many of these laws remained until the 1960s.

It's about the culture, laws, ruling elite, traditions and so on.

It's obvious that the US, for most of its history, was an ethno-state built around British ideals and concepts, and many ways still is.

The USA is an ethnic construct of Europeans, more specifically British; it doesn't belong to any other group, hence its whole DNA is based on British idealism, and a bit of the French ideals as well.

It's an effective setup, hence its success.

Also, ethno-states are the default for most countries.
