I would assume that the Pope does not support murder in any context.
However, when you have the worlds biggest microphone and an unprecedented political assassination takes place, with hundreds of people celebrating it, in your own country no less, and you donโt feel it appropriate to specifically call those actions out, that is a distinct failure of leadership and not an insignificant one.
In the past 48hrs I have seen the temperature rise on this site quite a bit. โCivil Warโ was trending yesterday if im not mistaken. If this trend continues it is going to take the country to a very dark place.
I agree that it is both right and necessary to be calling for reconciliation, but so is actively pushing back against the complete disregard for human life and moral bankruptcy that led to this event and its subsequent celebration.
I believe that doing that second part is as integral to preventing the perpetuation and escalation of further political violence as the first.
@Pontifex For the record I am not opposed to the pope calling for reconciliation, more just disappointed in the lack of outright condemnation of what took place on 9/10. Even great defenders of the faith such as Barack Obama, and Cenk Uyger have managed that much.
@Pontifex Weak sauce dude, if you are going to be the moral compass for over 1 billion catholics I would advise you grow a spine and gather the moral courage to call out evil on its face. Without that the rest of it rings hollow.
Please share if you agree that the estate of Charlie Kirk should sue Stephen King for defamation over this heinously false accusation
Heโs crossed a line
It will prove costly
@lonewolftech271@tkulogo@esherifftv Agreed. Space Shuttle was grounded for years after the catastrophic failures of Columbia and Challenger. Just takes one similar event on a Dragon capsule and the US human space flight program is either grounded or having to ask Russia pretty please for a ride.
