@g__j Big fan of Octopus but from a product design point of view, these things are awful, they should blend in and disappear.

[E.J. Hassenfratz @eyedesyn]

Super dope, don't have to go the old and heavy Volume Builder route for this!

[Nick Campbell @nickvegas]

C4D Friends... This hidden button fixes all the annoying Redshift color problems. Posting here hoping it helps you. It was driving me crazy!

⁉️ ⁉️ What the heck is Baking viewport/exchange images? Check out how @cgpov avoids slow load times for material previews by changing these settings in #cinema4d

@DavidAriew Is that frames rendering with mini line by line buckets? Have to give this a go…

[Scott Ramsay @ScottRamsay76]

@cgpov Signal, Drop Zone, still HDRI link, all your materials and textures obvs, you legends.

I used to know how to make physically accurate shaders with math. Then Blender introduced the Principled BSDF.

I used to spend hours lighting interiors with hundreds of lights. Then Cycles brought native path tracing to Blender.

People assume AI is different and that it will magically automate "everything else". But there's no correct answer to actual creativity. Ask 100 artists to design a vehicle for a fictional planet and you'll get 100 wildly different results. How can you possibly train for the correct answer, when there is none?

3D artists have long careers ahead of them as 3D offers drastically more control than text. Some skills will become less valuable under certain AI workflows. I'm not thrilled about losing a skill I spent time learning any more than you are, but this isn't new.

@andrewpprice This! “3D artists have long careers ahead of them as 3D offers drastically more control than text.”

Thank you for your kind words, but I gotta be honest…

“I can’t draw” isn’t an excuse.

I wasn’t born with drawing ability. I worked hard and learned.

FUN FACT: I’m 55 and I -still- hate the way I draw… so you know what I do about it?

I practice. Constantly.

I’ve been doing that since I was 3.

So, I must beg your pardon for the fact that I truly don’t give two hot shits about your “vision” if you’re unwilling to do the work… moreover, it doesn’t give you the right to plagiarize the labor of others.

I’m sure you’re a nice person and I’m assuming you don’t fully understand the gravity of what GenAI does, so I’ll end this by encouraging you to consider what I’ve said and educate yourself on the topic.

Have a nice day.

@NickBryantNY Reads like a Billy Joel song we all know.

[Scott Ramsay @ScottRamsay76]

@paulclementstv I’m using RS proxies which I guess are similar. Still feel like I should just dump it all in Unreal!

[Scott Ramsay @ScottRamsay76]

@alistair3d I’m quite happy for them to move on, admit it’s rubbish, no need to worry about legacy, just make a better one.

[Scott Ramsay @ScottRamsay76]

@mattworkman @henningsanden That’s a fair comment but lack of control is the issue isn’t it?

[Scott Ramsay @ScottRamsay76]

@sarah_stook @EricMGarcia No he isn’t.

[Scott Ramsay @ScottRamsay76]

@MarcelDeneuve They’re all so good but the composition on the mega truck is just brilliant.

[Scott Ramsay @ScottRamsay76]

@mattworkman use two fingers.

[Scott Ramsay @ScottRamsay76]

@OliDugmore Stupid statement. I refer you to the general election.
