@jimbobbob23 @SRFielding72 @BladeoftheS It is unlikely any company would pay a 2 million salary. However, a company director earning 2 million a year, would be paid via Dividends, so their earnings would be taxed differently from somebody PAYE - this is what I think is being referred to here.

I do however agree with your point about offshoring, I’ve seen an increase in this, as it is easier to avoid ir35 complications.

I understand your point, but it is completely possible for an individual to set their own Ltd company up, as long as they operate as a company and take on risk. Plenty of ex big 4 accounts have done this.

@mermaidatlarge @EC2man @DanielPriestley Joe could easily do that if he wanted - he just can’t be a disguised employee. I’ve been placing contractors in the UK for 10 years, personally I think the legislation changes were needed to prevent masses of tax avoidance.

@mermaidatlarge @EC2man @DanielPriestley IR35 was introduced by Gordon Brown in 2000, to prevent disguised employees utilising tax benefits of contracting via a Ltd company. The Conservatives made changes to the legislation, to ensure it worked effectively. Not sure how it removed competition?
