Animal movement is complex, depends on many interacting factors, and can be hard to accurately predict. Here we present a novel approach using a deep learning step selection framework: https://t.co/zgvDy29Bdh, with lots of supporting info and code! https://t.co/3TA9GVWoOH
The first many-analysts study in ecology is finally published! 🥳🙌
300+ coauthors and 5+ years, this was a massive effort by @Elliot_Gould_@HannahSFraser@TimParker88 and co.
Open access 👉 https://t.co/aA8QFN3bDs
Stoked to have a cover photo for @EcographyJourna! In our paper https://t.co/kp6vL7kog5 we included temporal dynamics into SSFs, resulting in daily patterns of movement and habitat selection.
Simulating then gave us dynamic spatial predictions

I'M LICHEN IT! 🤯💚
LOOK AT THOSE ANTENNAE!🤩
We just finished a POSTER on the Katydids of Manu!! (On our Patreon)! 👀
But, THIS is the craziest Katydid I've ever had the pleasure of seeing! Perfectly mimicking lichen growing on a tree, it blends in so well with the rainforest!🌳
Please repost. ISBE+, the online platform of uploaded plenaries, Hamilton lectures and more than 120 oral/poster presentations from #ISBE2024, is now live. Details here: https://t.co/QfEBRl4L6g
Postdoc position available! Come to @CrabExeter to work with @Samellisq , me, @kchiou & @SMack_Lab on comparative life-history evolution, as part of a new NIH grant on the social modifiers of lifespan. Apply by Oct 29 here: https://t.co/NZRu8zNY0z
JOB ALERT. Come and work with the @CSIRO & @BiolSci_UWA as a quantitative field ecologist. A 2 year postdoc based in Perth working across the Kimberley & Pilbara on developing biocontrol for an invasive vine. Please RT!

Fantastic week at @ISEC_stats_ecol in Swansea last week - such a wide array of inspiring ideas! Thanks to the excellent organising committee and @QUTDataScience for funding. Somehow I also managed to aquire a souvenir... 🥳 #ISEC2024
17 MILLION insects migrate through a 30m Pyrenean mountain pass every autumn!
They fly through the mountains on their remarkable journeys from northern Europe (including the UK) into Spain and beyond for the winter!
Our new paper is out right now: https://t.co/yQOEzoWxGC

Excited to see our paper accepted in TMLR. This work, a collaborative effort with David Nott, @dtfraz, @DavidJWarne, and @chris_drovandi, proposes robust sequential neural likelihood, a simulation-based inference method that is robust to model misspecification.
New paper! Here we GPS-tracked kākā @NZEcosanctuary, and found that younger kākā were more exploratory and had larger home ranges, which increased their exposure to risk outside the safety of the fence. We also present an approach for dynamic space use. https://t.co/0Ehk89UVVR
Yesterday I presented my final PhD seminar on the use of @bayesian models to improve the spatial resolution of health data in Australia🎉Huge thanks to all those who supported me through this journey, particularly @QUTDataScience and @CCQld!
