I live for road trips, it's in my blood. My granddad used to drive around Death Valley just for fun(in the 40s). My mom & I drove around just to get lost & find our way home(in the 70s). I'm not truly happy unless I'm seeing some place I've never seen before
Roswell, New Mexico. Pop 48k. Near site of alleged 1947 UFO crash. The town has embraced this for tourism.
We visited in 2013 & enjoyed visiting shops & sites.
Now in 2026, pot shops are prevalent, the town smelled bad & it was too crowded. Disappointing.

#Route66#RoadsideAmerica Meteor City, AZ
Opened as gas station 1938. Eventually closed & fell into disrepair-as many of the old Route 66 travel stops have. Bought & refurbished & reopened in 2025. Features gift shop & a Dino Drive-Thru! Located near actual huge Meteor Crater
@landofthe80s Cute movie!
Filmed near Kanab, Utah. A motel there, Parry Lodge, has rooms named after movie stars who filmed nearby(mostly Westerns) and there is a David Duchovny room!

Monument Rocks, in western Kansas, is a National Natural Landmark. Made of chalk and slowly eroding.
When we were there in 2023, it was raining and I was trying to avoid getting the huge tour group of people in my pictures!
Today is #NationalOklahomaDay
Granted statehood in 1907, the 46th state
Things I think of in Oklahoma:
Route 66
Golden Driller in Tulsa
Toby Keith
