Alan was a brilliant scholar, musician, artist, and friend and will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.
We will follow up here with any future arrangements for Alan.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Alan passed away in his home in Roanoke, VA. Our family asks for your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this unimaginable loss, privately.

@TuttReal Ah! I had mentioned Lee to you I believe when you were writing Parasite. Lee is at the center of new Marxism in SK, which apparently comes to theory as a post-Althusserianism.
I bet Zizek has now had a lot of influence on that scene!
Is the book out?
One of the first Haz videos I ever saw when I (regrettably) was learning about this Infra stuff was a "debate" with a former member, now a barista organizing with the SEIU.
When that fact is mentioned, a confused Haz literally asks him what the SEIU is--twice I believe...
Palilalia proudly presents Cyrus Pireh's latest "Thank you, Guitar" on 12" vinyl LP. Nobody right now is playing anything as unique & beautiful as what Cyrus is pulling from his beloved 9 string Fender Esquire. Pre-order now, out June 13.

I think this might've been the first music video I recorded after the winds carried me back to old Virginny 'bout six years ago.
And it's "Car" by Built to Spill, one of the first indie rock songs I ever fell in love with. Some solid shreddin' in this'n! :3
I think this was the union news that had me so joyful that I grabbed one of my banjos & winged "Solidarity Forever" fer the first time on the spot.
(Forgive the flubs--I was tryin' to hear the song in my head, improvise a banjo part, & read the lyrics all at the same time!)
I've reconsidered all this--
goin' so far as to disinterestedly weigh merit in the opposing arguments--
& now, finally, after gatherin' the whole of my most rarefied intellectual energies in service of an erudite response,
I offer my mature, refined rejoinder to the haters:
Leftists still seem to think Extra Life is going on tour in June, despite OVERWHELMING evidence to the contrary.
But itโs true, we are. The algo buried my last announcement so I tried a different approach here. Come touch asymmetrical grass with your discourse-poisoned ears
@charlielooker My "philosophy" as an audio engineer--setting aside the factor of client instructions, which may give me no choice in the matter--is to use it as a spot-corrective tool, never an aesthetically altering one. My "philosophy" as a musician is not to use it. Good call!
โThis posture is, to be sure, in certain ways obscure, spectral. But it reveals and condenses the tragedy itself of the subject. Not giving up on your desire is also being able, and knowing how, to undo what you believe you have done and tied together in a compact way.โ
โTo the contrary, he could be represented with the characteristics of Oedipus at Colonus, that is, in a situation where a man undoes by himself the knot of his own existence and imposes on whoever listens to him this terminal, final unraveling.โ
"Let the vot-iii-iii-ing...COMMENCE!"
A brigade of scrappy squire-mice blared a dinky fanfare on comically oversized cornets to signal the start of The People's Plebiscite.
The troupe's runt scurried to add in a squeaky countertenor, "And remember: Democracy Dies in Darkness!"
PSA: As con season revs up--
in spite of every-fur clearly smilin' & gettin' along so far--
yer neighborhood non-menacing graymuzzle wolf humbly offers this word to the wise.
๐ต: My cover of "Teenagers," originally by emotional hard-rock music-group The My Chemical Romances
I hung onto this video, probably in dreading anticipation of this moment.
Dad wasn't a trained musician, but I couldn't rival the tenderness of his performance. Nonetheless, I thought to at least wing it.
Dad, you need not long for home anymore. I'll sing your song now. ๐บ๐ต
I could tease & nitpick my older brother Stephen's awkward word usage & stiltedness till time itself tired of the exercise ๐,
but seconding that claim to such authority here would be pure hubris.
God bless him & my family for returning Dad home with sublime, royal dignity. ๐
Dad died yesterday.
He emigrated to rural PA from postwar Korea a year after "Unchained Melody" was released.
His rendition has long since replaced the original in my head.
I picked up his ol' guitar--the one I learned on--& did my best to hear Dad singin' his song once more.
