Thanks so much to Left Voice for publishing this analysis of the @jacobin hit piece on labor leader Chris Smalls.
Working people and rank-and-file union members need to fight for class struggle unionism and a new party of our own in order to be able to defeat the billionaire class. That's the only way we can end the genocide in Gaza, end all military aid to Israel, end imperialist war, stop the AI juggernaut, and unionize behemoths like Amazon.

All these sexy words like open innovation, collective intelligence, problem-oriented this, that, the other--that assumes we know how to work together. But if I don't value you, I'm probably not going to work very well with you.
My new book, The Common Good Economy, asks a simple question: what is the economy for, and how should people relate to one another inside it?

Yesterday, I spoke out against data centers and AI layoffs at the Seattle City Council.
Under mass pressure, the City Council passed a one-year moratorium on new hyperscale data centers. This is a victory for working people, but one year is far from enough.
My independent socialist campaign for Congress is the only one in this election fighting for an end to hyperscale data centers, for democratic public ownership of all existing data centers, and for a public-sector living wage jobs guarantee, funded by taxing the rich, to counter the AI-related mass layoffs.

Josh Hart has a theory on how after so many have tried and failed to become the Knicks savior and king of New York, it just might end up being a stocky, 6-foot-2 point guard from Villanova.
"Because I don't think he came in that way. He doesn't care about it," Hart said. "He just wants to win.”

@heavyredaction If you ask it straight up, AI will acknowledge that, because it is "a probabilistic machine built on what has *already* been written," it is essentially designed (and I'm quoting AI here) to "penalize true originality."
@cryptoeconprof@jennfrey Editors bring human insight: into meaning, context, subtext. AI has zero skills in those areas, and will concede that point if you ask it. It is a pattern-recognizing and -predicting machine only.
@SketchesbyBoze This is amazing. Thanks for sharing. Not just the passage itself, but that story. We need literature like this. And stories like this about how literature affects people.
The billionaires are consolidating their media. Now so are we.
With corporate control over almost everything we read, watch, and listen to, independent voices are outgunned, censored, and divided. Six years ago, BT set out to change that.
Now we’re taking the next big step, in the spirit of uniting and taking power back.

We don’t answer to Wall Street. We answer to you.
1/ It’s the 105th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, and I’ve been thinking about what healing actually requires.
When we talk about Tulsa, we often talk about history, the destruction of Black Wall Street, and the generational wealth that was stolen.
This weekends column on a Mayo word, a Mayo writer, and the limits of symbolic solidarity. "The question is not whether individual Israelis should be able to read Sally Rooney. It is whether any cultural transaction that gives oxygen to the appearance of normality is morally defensible while the state continues to annihilate Palestinian life."
“I can’t give honest feedback when it is not honest work. I can’t help you work out how you want to think about something, how you want to be in the world, if you are not using your own brain to tell me where you are.” 👍
Any educator defending the use of AI is a scab.

Generative AI doesn’t run on magic. It runs on massive data pipelines built on privacy violations by design.
Our new @Amnesty report exposes how big tech’s AI systems are powered by surveillance, data extraction, and abuse of people’s rights, at scale.
We researched the models powering some of the most popular publicly available standalone generative AI tools, including GPT 3 by Open AI, Google’s Gemini, Meta’s Llama, DeepSeek and tools by Midjourney and Stable Diffusion.
This is not innovation at any cost. It comes at a high price: our human rights.

The Vatican could have partnered with the exploited data workers fighting for their rights, the people whose water is polluted fighting data centers, or the many other victims around the world. But no, they featured ANTHROPIC, giving them their endorsement with this "partnership."
If you're demanding that Palestinians only accept support from politicians and pundits whose resume YOU consider acceptable, then your support for us is 100% performative, because that's a death sentence. Look around...count the people with power who are willing to oppose Israel
