It’s impossible to write a dramatic plot twist when your psychiatrist brain keeps stepping in to offer the antagonist a healthy coping mechanism and a referral to therapy.
“Constantly bound by craving and fear to a future full of uncertainties, we strip each present moment of its calm, its intrinsic import, which we are unable to enjoy. And so the future destroys the present.”—Hannah Arendt

The Lonely Genius: Terry A. Davis 👨💻🙏
Terry A. Davis was a brilliant but troubled programmer from the United States. He studied computer engineering and once worked with top technology companies. But in his 20s, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, a mental illness that made him hear voices and have strong religious visions. 🌩️
Instead of giving up, Terry poured his life into creating something extraordinary — TempleOS, a full operating system he built alone. He wrote every part of it: the kernel, compiler, and even its graphics. He believed God was guiding him, and TempleOS was meant to be the "third temple" described in the Bible. 📖💻
The system was unusual — it ran at 640x480 resolution with 16 colors and had a programming language Terry invented called “HolyC.” While many saw it as strange, others admired the sheer genius and dedication it took to build such a project single-handedly.
Sadly, Terry struggled with homelessness, isolation, and his illness until his passing in 2018. 🌙 His life is remembered as both heartbreaking and inspiring — a reminder of the thin line between brilliance and pain, and how even in struggle, creativity can shine. ✨
There’s undoubtedly immense difficulty in curating a list of 100 best anything, but if your project omits major film industries, artistic movements, and entire continents, it’s probably time to go back to the drawing board.
@spyderdobro If execution is poor, it may be rewritten by someone else. Also the risk of counting too much on ideas is parallel development. If something remotely similar appears in the horizon, no one may touch it.
#Andor s2 is Battle of Algiers is space. It’s not only about the human cost of standing up to power, but also how most on the both sides are cogs on a wheel.
Great to see someone doing a morally complex, non-fluffy take on authoritarianism and resistance using blockbuster ip.
“This was the blissful break when the world seemed a safer place, between the end of the Cold War and about ten minutes later.”
― Mick Herron, Slow Horses
“...perhaps the sweetest moment in writing is the arrival of that idea for a book which never has to be written, which is never sullied with a definite shape, which never needs to be exposed to a less loving gaze than that of its author.”
—J Barnes (Flaubert’s Parrot)
