A major problem with Canadians is that they are offended by Trump's personality and brashness, and much prefer the phoniness, lies, and empty words of politicians like Trudeau and Carney.

Trudeau and Carney have destroyed Canada, and will see its dissolution, yet to Canadians, Trump is worse because they see him as rude and mean.

People who prefer pleasant/polire lies over unpleasant truths are dangerous. Indeed, this is why I've managed to anger so many Canadians over the years. I tell the truth, and they don't want to hear it, so scream at and attempt to silence the messenger.

Is this a problem that is resolvable? How do we convince people to value truth and authenticity, even when it makes them uncomfortable?

McTeague’s line is the one that stuck. Elbows up for the people who already made it. Ankles up for everyone else. Under thirty, he said, is underwater. Not tight. Pooched. And Ottawa is not building a ladder.

He does not think this turns around with a press conference. He thinks it turns when it gets as ugly as 1981-82, the last time Canadians finally grabbed the Liberals by the scruff and threw them out.

That is not a Conservative talking point. That is a guy who used to wear the red jersey telling you the next generation was written off.

Let me wrap my head around this.

We’re now hearing that Mark Carney INTENTIONALLY collapsed a trade deal with Canada’s largest trading partner, inflicting economic harm on Canadians for the political gimmick of boosting the Liberal Party and manufacturing an American enemy to deflect from their own failures.

That is banana-republic-level stuff.

And somehow, on October 19, people are still contemplating voting Option 1 and empowering this man to keep doing it.

Option 1: Stay in Canada and end the independence process.

Option 2: Continue the independence process and move Alberta toward a future binding yes/no vote on independence.

You may have noticed that I have been quite vocal about the problems in Canada - this is because I want to see them fixed. But you have a group of people in this country living behind gates thinking everything is ok because their wealth from housing and equities or even an inflation adjusted defined pension plan that have buffeted them from poor policy. Many of these people voted for Trudeau and still think nothing that government did was wrong. I come from families that parents and grandparents did things for a better future for their kids and grandkids. Why can’t we return to this mentality? Why the NIMBY and selfishness? I just don’t get it.

Full stop. Scrutinizing government is not disloyalty; it is a civic responsibility, regardless of who holds power.

Patriotism does not demand intellectual obedience. Too many Canadian academics appear compliant right now. I am not. Unfortunate.
