Abraham led his son up with a donkey to a sacrifice he couldn’t make—the Promise would’ve died.
Jesus, God’s son, went up on a donkey to a sacrifice only he could make and ensured the Promise would live forever.

“happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked…Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, & he meditates on it day & night.”
Ps 1:1-2
We’re always meditating on someone’s words. Meditating on God’s isn’t adding, it’s supplanting something inferior.
“Adoption is the highest privilege of the gospel. The traitor is forgiven, brought in for supper, and given the family name. To be right with God the Judge is a great thing, but to be loved and cared for by God the Father is greater.”
— J.I. Packer
Surely Christ is enough to fill all our thoughts, desires, hopes, loves, joys, or whatever is within us, or without us. Christ alone comprehends all the circumference of all our happiness. O the worth of Christ!
- Isaac Ambrose
“all things were created through him and for him.”
Such a proclamation to meditate upon this morning in the spring air as the sun rises and the birds call out and flowers begin to rise from the earth.
Through him and for him. Amen
@ViralJesusPod Because I find the Christian account of Jesus Christ truly credible, exceedingly beautiful, deeply humbling, supremely comforting, gloriously redemptive and soul satisfying, and in light of him and his love for us I believe I understand God, myself and the world more clearly.
We can never be reminded enough of the glorious gift of Jesus’ righteousness given to us in our union with Him. We are clothed, covered, comforted in Him.
When God Became an Embryo
Today is March 25. That means Christmas is nine months away. It also means today is the celebration of the Annunciation.
God becomes no bigger than a dot to save a cosmos.
He doesn't just send a child to do a man's job.
He sends an embryo to do a God's job.
Jesus did not come down to earth to walk a mile in our shoes. He chose to live for the rest of eternity in our skin.
The incarnation was not an internship.
If there was ever any doubt about God's commitment to humanity, the incarnation removed that doubt.
For the joy set before him, Jesus entered the womb, suffered through puberty, fought the good fight, endured the cross, exploded the tomb. For what joy? For the joy of calling you brother and sister, flesh of his flesh and bone of his bone. For the joy of your salvation.
It all began inside a virgin, when God became a man forever. And thus he is our brother, our kinsman redeemer, the God who would move heaven and earth to save us.
“For it is quite possible to have dead orthodoxy, or an orthodoxy that is only skin-deep: to affirm the truth on paper but deny it in the heart and in practice.”
