Banned from school, work, travel, and gyms— their faces and voices legally erased, subjected to forced and underage marriages—living under the Taliban is hell for Afghan women. The least the world can do is establish visa programs exclusively for Afghan women and girls.
This week, 19 Afghan women have started medical studies in Scotland thanks to the Linda Norgrove Foundation.
This Scottish initiative must be the start of a world-wide effort to end the Taliban's violation of girls' rights.

The Supreme Leader of the Taliban has officially BANNED women from showing their bare face in public.
Woman are also forbidden from being heard singing, reciting, or reading aloud in public.
We warned of erasure. No one listened.

One way or another, the Taliban will be defeated. My beloved Afghanistan will rise again, unshackled and free. We will fight with every breath for the basic human rights of our women and girls.
The Taliban will never, can never, represent the soul of my people.
We’ve already seen hospices in Birmingham and Hampshire making redundancies. And it won't be long before we see more cuts, or even closures.
Hospices are in crisis. We need MPs to hear about hospice care and why it matters.

Hospices are running deficits, that means one thing – more cuts, or even closures.
With hundreds of new MPs in place, we need every MP to hear about hospice care so they understand the scale of the issue and why it matters.

The book 'Doughnut Economics' opens with the story of Yuan Yang who, as a young economics student back in 2008, was challenging the outdated theory she was being taught. Last night she was elected as the first-ever MP for Earley & Woodley. Huge congratulations @YuanfenYang !
Watch this it’s fascinating - I asked James Timpson what he’d do about prisons and sentencing if he was in charge. He believes only a third of prisoners in jail should definitely be there. He’s now in charge of prisons (but not sentencing).
This week the country decides who forms the next government. The timing could not be more critical for hospice and end of life care, which urgently needs supporting.
Whoever ends up in power could make this a turning point for UK hospices.

We had been following the news of Michael and hoping for the best.
Some of our staff were fortunate enough to work with Michael in 2013 when he travelled to the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan with a team of World Animal Protection vets.
He fronted the BBC documentary: Vets in the Disaster Zone, in the weeks after the disaster as they helped communities to protect their livestock against the impact of future typhoons and trained up local teams of emergency vets.
Amid the widespread devastation, Michael showed great empathy, compassion and care.
We are all deeply saddened by the tragic news and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
