Shamar Joseph hailing from a village with 350 population, was a security guard until last year. It takes min two days to reach there on a boat and until last five years, there was no mobile and internet connection till 2018. Logging was the only profession, and he had a near death experience when a tree fell and narrowly missed him. Then decided to move to another place. Was a labourer and then a security guard, working for 12 hours. At best could play cricket only on a Sunday.
Debuted in this series. Bought an arm guard only three days before the Test. Yet scores 36 against the highly experienced Australian attack in Australia. Also takes a five-wicket haul on Test debut, as West Indies bowl out Australia in AUS for the first time since 2009 (forget even winning).
Australia were 113/2 chasing 215. From this improbable position, Shamar Joseph in just his second Test took 7 wickets in a SINGLE SPELL. This is despite suffering from toe injury.
WI's first win vs AUS since 2003.
That too at Gabba where only India could win in last 35 years.
That too in a pink ball Test where Australia won 11 out of 11 before.
Also after losing many players to various franchise leagues.
WHAT A STORY!!!
Against all the odds.
This is a film!

In what is a historic moment for Indian chess, one of India's biggest conglomerates - the Adani Group has decided to enter a long term sponsorship agreement with India no.2 R. Praggnanandhaa. The aim is to help Praggnanandhaa become the World Champion.
While, the details of the amount and period of support have not been revealed it is quite clear that the amount is substantial. We speak to both Pragg and his long time trainer R. B. Ramesh while they were still in the Adani office in Ahmedabad to understand more about this massive development.

With the #BCCI finally releasing the #iplauction2024 list I’ve done a little analysis to see what trends the data is showing us. The first part of this thread is auction data analysis and the 2nd part my view of what each time should be targeting for #IPL2024 . Buckle up..
Indian fans love cricketers like Kane, AB, Baz, Faf & many other Kiwis & Safricans because to us they are 'genuine nice and humble guys'.
Historically we've disliked Australian cricketers cos of their supposed cockiness & them being arrogant and ungracious in victory. Because they've always played with the attitude of 'I mean business, my job is to win. I'm not here to please anyone.'
Allan Border. Steve Waugh. Ricky Ponting. Shane Warne. Glenn Mcgrath. Michael Clarke. That Aussie culture has given them so much success over the years as we all know.
Cummins is a rare exception & a whiff of fresh air. He's a genuine nice guy, who smiles a lot & revels in the success of his mates. He also fights for climate change. Ever since he took over as captain, he posts Instagram posts for his fellow Aussies whenever they do well. Story kooda illa, post. Vera evan pannuvaan ipdi?
By being all the above, he proved he's still an Aussie thoroughbred when he said 'In sport, there's nothing more satisfying than making a big crowd go silent & that's the aim for tomorrow'. Pure villainy, but delivered with a smile.
But here's thing. Even though I wanted him to eat his words, I laughed it off because it was genuinely funny coming from Cummins. Imagine, idhuvey oru Ponting oh Mcgrath oh sollirndha, we'd have gone rogue.
Pat Cummins is different. Don't get me wrong, he still kills you like Ponting... but he kills you with his success & buries you with his smile.
