The truth about the Sabbath, it isn’t a Day but a Person
The Sabbath is a sacred cow doctrine with many Christians around the world. In the Old Testament, one of the Ten Commandments says to keep the “Sabbath holy.” This meant the Israelites were not permitted to do any work or travel at all on the Sabbath. Women would prepare meals in advance and as soon as the Sabbath started, everyone was required to rest. That day was a “no work” day!
Today, many people still do their best to keep that commandment and honor the Sabbath. For the record, the Sabbath was on Saturday but it began on Friday evening. From evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath” (Leviticus 23:32).
Some Christians have turned Sunday into their version of the Sabbath. My devout Presbyterian grandfather believed Sunday was the day of rest for Christians. On that day, he only went to church, came home, sat, and watched golf on TV while Grandma cooked dinner. He rested while my grandmother worked. Not exactly what “keeping the Sabbath” is all about.
Some Christian denominations today are devoted to keeping the Sabbath holy.
Did God want us to set aside one day a week, cease from all work and focus on Him to keep that day holy? Or did He have a better plan that instead of keeping a day holy, He would make us holy and keep us in His rest 24/7?
Jesus told the religious leaders of His day that they had diligently studied God’s Word but had missed entirely what God wanted them to see and believe.
“You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me” (John 5:39).
The religious leaders were looking in Scripture for what they thought they needed “to do” to earn their righteousness with God. This is still a very common practice today. However, Jesus pointed out to them that all the scriptures they had diligently studied were about Him. It wasn’t about what they needed to do to be saved. It was about a Savior who would do for them what they could not do and pay a price no one could to redeem mankind. The eternal life they thought would be obtained through their efforts would now be received as a gift of grace by faith and not by works.
With that in mind, let’s take a fresh look at what the Sabbath is since Jesus tells us it is all about Him.
The Sabbath is a day of rest. Jesus is the Sabbath because we find rest in Him. Hebrews Chapter 4 talks about the importance of entering rest by faith. The entire Old Testament picture of the Sabbath is a description of what life is in Christ.
· Man tried to keep the Sabbath holy but in Christ, God has made us holy.
· You couldn’t work on the Sabbath. In Christ, He works in and through us to God’s glory and honor. His righteousness is a free gift; it cannot be earned or worked for.
· People had to focus and remember God one day a week. In Christ, we can focus and remember Him all the time, not just one day a week. We can keep our minds stayed on Him 24/7 and live in perfect peace every day.
So the Sabbath is a foretelling of the work of Christ that would give us rest, peace, and holiness in Him. We don’t need to keep a day holy. The person that day was all about keeps us holy and gives us rest in Him.The religious view is to keep one day a week holy. However, God’s perspective is Jesus who is our Sabbath will keep us holy throughout all of eternity.
You can try to keep a day holy or let Jesus who is the Sabbath keep you holy and at rest in Him. Jesus is our Sabbath!

WOMEN IN MINISTRY
Christianity has in general interpreted scripture wrong in excluding women from ministry ~ Ray E Horton
Robert Dale added good scriptural backup in a comment:
There are many women named in the New Testament as ministers in various capacities. Here are the main ones. First, notice HOW MANY WOMEN Paul names in this first passage (all of the ALL-CAPS names below)...
ROMANS 16:1-15, "I commend to you our sister PHOEBE, who is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea; that you receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and that you help her in whatever matter she may have need of you; for she herself has also been a helper of many, and of myself as well. Greet PRISCA (or PRISCILLA) and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who for my life risked their own necks, to whom not only do I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles; also greet the church that is in their house.... Greet MARY, who has worked hard for you. Greet Andronicus and JUNIAS, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners, who are outstanding among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.... Greet TRYPHAELA and TRYPHOSA, workers in the Lord. Greet PERSIS the beloved, who has worked hard in the Lord. Greet Rufus, a choice man in the Lord, also HIS MOTHER and MINE.... Greet Philologus and JULIA, Nereus and HIS SISTER, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them."
OTHER WOMEN MINISTERS IN SCRIPTURE:
ANNA (Luke 2:36-38)
CLAUDIA (2 Tim 4:10-11 & 21)
FOUR DAUGHTERS OF PHILIP (Acts 21:8-9)
EUODIA and SYNTYCHE (Phil 4:2-3)
PRISCILLA (Acts 18:26; 1 Cor 16:19; 2 Tim 4:19)
THE "CHOSEN LADY" (2 John 1:1-4)
NYMPHA (Col 4:15)
CHLOE (1 Cor 1:11)
LYDIA (Acts 16:40)
ACTS 2:17 says, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and YOUR DAUGHTERS shall prophesy..." (And 1 CORINTHIANS 14:3 says, "...one who prophesies edifies the church.")
GALATIANS 3:28 says, "There is... neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
BOTTOM LINE: Passages like the one in 1 Cor 14:34-36 depict a local, cultural scenario that needed to be addressed, due to various and specific historical practices in the people of those assemblies. To read them in any other way directly contradicts all of the above examples in Scripture of godly women that God used. God is calling us to finally stop trying to marginalize such godly women, whom He has called and chosen for the work of His service in these last days.
I could write more, but I think that'll do!
