Set up Password Writeback in Microsoft Entra the right way!

If you are running a Hybrid setup with Microsoft Entra ID, you probably expect password changes made in the cloud to sync back to your on-premises Active Directory.

But this does not happen by default. You need to enable password writeback in Microsoft Entra Connect.

Even after enabling it, many users still see this frustrating message:

"Your password does not meet policy requirements. Enter a different password."

Why is this happening?

Your on-premises Group Policy might be blocking the reset. One common issue is the Minimum password age setting. For writeback to work properly, this must be set to 0.
