Some BRPD officers have been calling a narcotics warehouse the “Brave Cave”. Brave based on the name of a former unit in the department that would kick in doors & do random stops for drugs. Officers are have been said to physically beat people at this site. Until this week the leaders in the department say they didn’t even know some officers called it the “Brave Cave”.

I follow a process based on scripture when I know a leader. I reach out to them about the issue. If that doesn’t move the needle I reach out to others to help convey the message privately. Then if there is no action I come to the masses because we can’t stand for certain actions. I reached out to @MayorBroome yesterday and others about the issue with this facility being reopened the same way. The public was told it would be investigated. The chief today says he did a walk through and he’s going to build a “proper interrogation room.” If you had an improper set up, is it possible that encourages improper behavior by officers?

Here is the civics part for everyone. If the Chief doesn’t get why saying building a proper room a day after isn’t a real investigation and gives no confidence of change. Then our elected mayor, who is the chiefs boss, and the custodian of all city property has the ability to instruct the chief what she wants done with the facility.

The chief is retiring this year. The mayor is asking to be re-elected next year. We need a clear understanding that this type of facility won’t be allowed under this administration at all. People must be treated with dignity and their rights can’t be violated and glossed over with a construction project.

We need to see you take the reigns here @mayorbroome and lead in a way that ensures people’s rights are not violated by those paid to protect their rights.

@HoffnerDrake OOOFF. If you only knew how many cases have been charged against black women and men where “the evidence proved the guilty” in a time where “evidence” was just anyone saying “yea that’s the person who did it” and those HUMANS are sitting in prison for crimes they didn’t commit.

The corrupt prosecution and police we saw in the Rittenhouse trial is the norm in our justice system.

The difference here is we could all watch it.

This usually happens with no live feed or media attention, and with public defenders pressuring the defendant to take a plea deal.
