The fire situation in Spokane County is very serious and with these winds speeds it could get worse. I have been in touch with County officials. Please follow latest information and evacuation updates from Spokane County Emergency Management and the Sheriff’s Office. My office is on standby to help provide federal resources to those impacted by the fire and I am confident that our entire federal delegation will work in a bipartisan fashion to support via FEMA as we did in last year’s terrible flooding on the west side of the state. Again, this is an extremely serious situation. Please stay alert and follow directions from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management. For those who have been evacuated, a shelter has been set up at the Spokane County Community College.

The new fire in West Spokane is no joke. Already well into Riverside State Park and reports that deputies are being cut off due to how fast it is moving while trying to evacuate people. Already hopped the river and it will be a miracle if there are not casualties from this one. Can't believe how fast it is moving and radio traffic says it is spotting well in front.
@RinkdancerMary The fire has since jumped the Spokane River. It was several miles from him, but is traveling in his direction. He is my neighbor, but is house sitting at his sister's house while she is on a cruise to Alaska. He has an escape route/plan in case it comes to that.

Over 10,000 people are now under evacuation orders due to wildfires spreading through Spokane, Washington.
Spokane Fire Emergency: There is currently two rapidly spreading Wildfires on either side of Spokane Washington. The Old Trails Fire has forced the evacuation of thousands of people and has destroyed structures while actively moving into Spokane. Terrifying. #WAwx #OldTrailsFire

➡️ The Old Trails Fire (formerly the Euclid Fire) ignited today near Spokane under a Particularly Dangerous Situation Red Flag Warning, growing to 50 acres in only 20 minutes and 2000 acres in a matter of hours, continuing to move fast.
➡️ The fire jumped the ridge above the Spokane River into Riverside State Park, crossed the river itself, and is now pushing into residential communities with erratic, multi-directional fire behavior, prompting Level 3 "Go Now" evacuations.

@sdcoles915 The fire started N of Airway Heights traveling NE. It jumped the Spokane river about an hour ago. It jumped highway 231 and is now heading into the Indian Trails are. Scary stuff.
