Actress #LizaSoberano has opened up about the realities of starting a new chapter in Los Angeles, revealing that chasing her dreams in Hollywood has come with major sacrifices especially financially.
Speaking on #EdwardBarber’s “Painfully Human Podcast,” Liza reflected on how different her life is now compared to the successful career she built in the Philippines.
“I think moving to LA, obviously, money is the biggest thing that I’ve sacrificed,” she shared, noting that she could have stayed in the Philippines, continued doing projects and endorsements, and earned far more than she does today.
Instead, Liza chose to start from scratch in a new industry, embracing the challenges of being a newcomer while investing in her long-term goals.
She also admitted that it was painful to hear people assume her career had declined simply because she was no longer as visible in the public eye.
“I could be easily just doing that and still making the same amount of money that I used to, but that’s what I sacrificed to be living in LA and in discomfort. Now that I’m here, I’m a new artist, so I’m going through all the new artist things. It really hurt me when people would say, ‘Oh, laos na siya. We don’t see her anywhere. She’s only doing these small little influencer gigs.’”
Liza explained that those smaller projects are what help her make ends meet while pursuing bigger opportunities.
“That’s how I stay alive. I’m not making as much money as I did before… I have to do all these little gigs every now and then because that’s how I pay my bills.”
She added that much of what she earns now goes into acting classes, vocal lessons, and self-taped auditions with acting coaches, describing them as necessary but expensive investments in building her career in Hollywood.

Sen.Robin Padilla, in a statement, says he is not a traitor— “Hindi ako traydor sa Pilipinas. Ang tanong ko: sino ba talaga ang traydor? Ang tumitindig para sa kalayaan at soberanya ng kanyang bayan, o ang handang ipaubaya sa dayuhan ang paghusga at pagdidikta sa mga Pilipino?”
'ICC HAS NO JURISDICTION OVER DELA ROSA'S CASE'
Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando said the International Criminal Court (ICC) has no jurisdiction over Senator Bato dela Rosa’s case, citing the Philippines’ withdrawal from the Rome Statute in 2019.
In his dissenting opinion, Hernando argued that the ICC investigation and arrest warrant against Dela Rosa came after the country’s withdrawal from the tribunal had already taken effect.
He also maintained that there is no Philippine judicial process authorizing the senator’s surrender to the ICC.

GMA REPORTER ATHENA IMPERIAL FILES ACTS OF LASCIVIOUSNESS COMPLAINT VS FORMER GMA REPORTER NICO WAJE
Based on documents obtained by The Philippine STAR, GMA reporter Athena Imperial and another former network employee have filed separate complaints against former GMA reporter Nico Waje for alleged acts of lasciviousness under Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code, as well as gender-based sexual harassment under Republic Act No. 11313.
In a statement, APS Law, through Atty. Aloi Renz P. Santos, confirmed that his client Imperial, formally named in the statement as Athena Mae D. Imperial-Rodriguez, “has filed the appropriate complaint before the proper authorities.”
“This case is now before the proper forum. We will therefore allow the process to take its course and will not discuss the merits beyond what is necessary to protect our client’s rights,” APS Law said.
The law firm added: “Ms. Imperial-Rodriguez comes forward not only for herself, but also as an advocate for those who cannot yet speak for themselves. She believes that incidents of this nature can no longer be ignored, minimized, or tolerated in any workplace, profession, or industry.”
APS Law also noted, “without further comment and out of respect for privacy and due process,” that “a separate complaint has likewise been filed by another individual.”
“APS Law respects the rights of all parties. At the same time, we will firmly pursue all remedies available under law, guided by evidence, ethics, and proper procedure,” the statement further read.
In a separate statement sent to this paper, Imperial-Rodriguez said:
“I have decided to pursue the proper legal remedies available to me under the law.
“This was not an easy decision. It took time, reflection, and support from the people closest to me before I found the courage to come forward.
“I am speaking not only for myself, but also for those who, for different reasons, are still unable or afraid to speak for themselves. I believe that incidents of this nature can no longer be ignored, minimized, or tolerated in any workplace or industry.
“At this point, I choose to place my trust in the legal process and in the institutions tasked to handle these matters properly and fairly.
“Out of respect for the ongoing proceedings, I will refrain from discussing further details and ask the public to allow the proper authorities to do their work without speculation or prejudgment.
“I remain hopeful that, through lawful processes and honest conversations, safer spaces and greater accountability may continue to develop for everyone.”
As of writing, Waje has yet to react to the complaint. | @Natspeaking
