Ao indicar que deixará o cargo no dia 6 de agosto, Petro destacou o tempo em que trabalhamos juntos. Reafirmou seu compromisso com a democracia e com uma transição pacífica no país.

Agradeci ao presidente Petro pela amizade e pela cooperação com o Brasil e o povo brasileiro. Ao longo de seu mandato, Petro sempre demonstrou firme compromisso com a integração regional e o enfrentamento dos desafios comuns da América do Sul. Destaquei, ainda, sua determinação inabalável em promover a sustentabilidade ambiental, a preservação da Amazônia, além de seu incansável engajamento no enfrentamento ao narcotráfico e ao crime organizado transnacional.

Nos três anos e meio em que coincidimos no governo, a Colômbia foi um dos países que mais visitei na América Latina — foram cinco viagens. Além da visita de Estado a Bogotá, realizada em 2024, participei das cúpulas da OTCA, CELAC, CELAC-União Europeia e CELAC-África. Também recebi Petro diversas vezes no Brasil, incluindo sua visita de Estado a Brasília e sua participação na inauguração do Centro de Cooperação Policial Internacional de Manaus, em 2025.

Nossos países estão unidos por uma ampla agenda de interesses comuns e terão somente a ganhar se continuarem trabalhando juntos.
