@StariXous@stubbornsticks@kijuler Same. It's the main reason why I wish there was a post-game in Re:CoM.
Hopefully someone less lazy than me will make an indie game with that combat system.
@butchriku The story is skip-able. The gameplay isn't.
The opposite is true for 358/2 days. Though the tedious gameplay does help in elevating how bored Roxas must have felt working for the Org XIII.
@TheBuddah101@TheDavidVinc Yeah, I agree. But the point is that people think it's hard because most people don't use the mechanics unless they are forced to. It's the same reason why Okumura was a famous difficulty spike in Persona 5. That's why OP complains about a lack of early skill check in modern RPGs
@GenePark Sony used to be good with the making of more niche stuff before the cinematic experiences and hyper realism became the norm and they decided that they only cared about that kind of games.
Xbox was never there so their situation with too many studios is not surprising.
@TheBuddah101@TheDavidVinc That's kind of their point though. Knowing how to go back and rework your team to counter Matador is the skill check in that game.
SMTV has that moment with the Hydra. If you don't prepare your team well enough you aren't beating it.
@DennisGill10@infinite_walrus@RecusantVessel That one would be fine as a normal world. Marvel needs the 100 Acre Woods approach so that they don't have to worry about how to fit the multiverse stuff that comes from Marvel with the multiverse stuff that already exists in Kingdom Hearts.
@kijuler Nah. Chain of Memories is the one where the nothing happens during most of the game. Sometimes they do include the topic of "memories" in the KH1 retellings, but otherwise it's just waiting until you're done with a set of Disney worlds to get more plot.
@clockworkpat I tried it a bit. The puzzles are amazing.
Kinda want to just stop and wait until the game is fully polished and out before getting too deep into it.
