The alliance between Canada and Europe is not defined by what we oppose. It is about what we are for: freedom, solidarity, prosperity, sustainability. An alliance strong enough so that no one can dictate our choices.

Europe and Canada are each strong. Europe and Canada are even stronger together.

An honour to address the European parliament today.

I’m not even Canadian but this is pretty damn epic.

What you found is the institutional pricing for Matt and Mara. It’s priced like that for universities to screen and lend out in libraries. The real Blu-ray will be worth the wait with lots of deleted scenes and special features.

If everyone here can stay fit, this is potentially the best Japanese team I’ve ever seen.

Tomiyasu and Itakura would probably switch positions in defence, but based on Moriyasu’s tactics in the World Cup a lineup like this seems the most likely.

One of my favourite signings from this transfer window. Keito Nakamura is a gem and has a much higher ceiling than Kaoru Mitoma.

Olympique Lyon is a perfect club for him to develop. They’re playing in the Europa League too. Big step up from the Ligue 2 trenches.

Erik Lira to AS Monaco fell through but at least we can look forward to Pato Salas playing at Famalicão 🇲🇽 🦆

He’s been an average striker at Liga MX with Club América, but he’s still only 22 so going to Europe is a chance for him to raise his ceiling.

I don’t like to complain about our nationality being a burden because it’s unfair and nonsensical to claim it is – but why is it that Mexican players always get shut out from getting opportunities in Europe while Canadians and Americans have no problem?

[sebastian e. @sebasgol18]

So apparently this transfer collapsed because AS Monaco couldn’t free up enough non-EU slots in their roster for Erik Lira to join…

…and just like that the tragic recent history of Mexican football player development in Europe continues.

[sebastian e. @sebasgol18]

Rómpela Erik!

We finally have another player making the jump to Europe this summer after Hormiga.

If I’m not mistaken, the last Mexican that played for AS Monaco was Rafa Márquez who also similarly played as a defensive midfielder 🇲🇽

[sebastian e. @sebasgol18]

One of my favourite players in La Liga right now is Sergio Camello, because I haven’t felt this represented by a footballer in a while… he’s just a dude that likes movies and enjoys writing about them. It helps that he’s an absolute baller too.

[Alex Naser-Hall @anaserhall]

Sergio Camello is now officially the first player in football history to score against FC Barcelona who has given Carla Simón’s Summer 1993 a four-star review on Letterboxd.

[sebastian e. @sebasgol18]

How the mighty have fallen.

While this is a step down, Santi is still only 25 and has time to turn things around.

Porto has been good to Mexicans over the years. Herrera, Tecatito, and Layún have all been key players in the past. Let’s hope Santi follows in their footsteps 🇲🇽

🚨⚪️🔵 BREAKING: FC Porto reach verbal agreement to sign Santi Giménez from AC Milan, here we go!
