I used to go all out on custom ERP builds.
A dashboard for everything.
Three of them did all the work.
Now I stop at the data layer and expose it over MCP.
Every dashboard nobody opens was a question we tried to predict. Give the model the data and let your team ask instead.
“It’s internal, it doesn’t need to be pretty.”
Your team will spend more hours in that screen than on anything else.
Taste is the difference between an operating system people use and one they resent.
Adoption is more often a design issue than a training issue.
Cheaper, more open AI matters. But it doesn't diffuse on its own.
Someone still has to map the business, build one source of truth, then let AI run a piece.
