Why is the question of Southern Cameroon's status so complex. The UN Charter emphasizes self-determination and territorial integrity. Southern Cameroons joined the Republic of Cameroon in 1961 via a plebiscite, becoming part of a federal state. But today there’s no federal structure in existence. However, some argue the union wasn't properly formalized or has been violated, the United Nations Charter there by fueling the need of the recognition of SOUTHERN CAMEROON aka Ambazonian
Britain's position likely stems from:
- Recognizing Cameroon as a sovereign state within its current borders. Of 10/1/1961
- The UN's stance on territorial integrity and avoiding secessionist claims.
- The complexity of international law on self-determination vs. territorial integrity.
@TiborPNagyJr Thank you Ambassador for your observation. However, Southern Cameroons (Ambazonia) are not secessionists . There's no Union Treaty between the two Cameroons. Lrc should RETREAT to her boundaries at independence 01/01/1960.
@HouseForeign@RepGregoryMeeks The people of Southern Cameroons Ambazonia are watching. Now the world will understand the pains we have been going through for 64 years; the genocidal onslaught that has left 60,000 dead l,450 villages burnt,1.4M displaced and 300k refugees in Nigeria & Ghana
S Cameroons was a separate state forced to join Fr Cameroun in 1961. The union didn't work & they are exercising their right to https://t.co/uGYroZOryh cmr continues to treat them like conquered people & this must stop @georgegalloway@JDVance@10DowningStreet@TiborPNagyJr@CNN

NO to occupation.YES to freedom @georgegalloway
My latest in @NationalSecJour ask why @EmmanuelMacron will recognize a Palestinian state but not #Artsakh:
…Rewarding Hamas terrorism with independence signals terrorism works and, indeed, is wise. Here, contrast Macron’s enthusiasm for Palestinian independence with his opposition to Armenian independence in Nagorno-Karabakh. While Palestinians repeatedly embraced terrorism—hijacking airlines, bombing cafes, and even attacking the 1972 Munich Olympics—the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh organized referenda, held elections, and built a functioning democracy.
Macron stood aside when Azerbaijan attacked Artsakh, seized its leaders, and ethnically cleansed its entire population. Why should peaceful, democratic Artsakh not receive recognition yet Palestine, whose strategy rests on violence, should?

Gutsy article by @mrubin1971 in @NationalSecJour asking if Macron is recognizing Palestine, why not Ambazonia. Rubin gives background to Ambazonian struggle and reasons why Southern Cameroonians seek to go their own way due many abuses by Biya regime.
