@prescottbalch Oh, wikipedia says that was one of the diseases associated with hiv-aids, there were some other terms like that, notable antiviral drugs for example
It's fun looking up your birth year, but also scrolling back to find words from earlier than you'd (or at least I'd) think
1985 'private equity fund'
1984 'terabyte'
1983 'vaporware'
1979 'neocon'
1971 'fintech'
1970 'granola' (ok that's expected, hippie)

I assume these dates are when the word was common enough to be added to a normal dictionary, e.g. "terabyte" already existed as a technical term via the SI prefixes, but people weren't routinely talking about that much storage before it was at least on the horizon of feasibility
The Flock thing is such a good reminder of how naive some of our tech brethren can be—they're all "buy our new StalkerBot 9000, but don't worry it says right in the manual to not stalk your ex with it"
Once again reminded that Lana Del Rey's CINNAMON GIRL is almost entirely unlike Neil Young's but if you squint there's some lyric-thematic similarity
hmm there's an "out of the black / into the blue" line in one of her other songs, another Neil Young reference, just inverted
@hradzka Missed opportunity on some Star Wars crossover potential had they cast Kenny Baker here, but instead we got him in TIME BANDITS which, imo, much better use of his talent
and sure there's always what-if-the-other-side-just-ignores-the-law but let's just humor each other and keep believing in the shared fiction, it's much less messy this way
Look I'm no politics-expert, but if your pitch is "our party has to stay in control forever lest policies be reversed" maybe you should consider focusing more on structural incentive changes, or changes in the law, rather than ephemeral executive action, but again what do I know
@eigenrobot yeah as a small acct I see the other side of follow-churn reasonably often, 50k acct I've never interacted with follows me, hoping to pique my interest in their coin or w/e. Seems to have fallen off a bit lately which is nice, shame about the inconvenience for legit big accts tho
Wondering if the ancient Greeks had a word for 'cringe' in the current-internet sense—I'd like to come up with a word for the sort of -cracy or -archy we're living in now
Wait, do people think the centaur-baphomet-chainsaw robot is an actual company's actual product, or are you all being double reverse ironic, or is it just fun to meme "man-made horrors" etc? I need to catch up with current-year internet conventions
