Hi Vitalik,

I know your story. Blizzard removed your spell in World of Warcraft, and that made you vow to build a world that cannot be altered arbitrarily by any centralized party.

I trusted hardware wallets, trusted Ledger. But this trust destroyed me. All my BTC and ETH inside the wallet were completely drained. I have truly experienced turning grey overnight.

I’m stuck and do not know what to do. Could you please help me recover my stolen assets?
Although millions of RMB may not seem like a large amount to people in this space, this money is the hope for my whole family.

I am a victim of the CryptoBilis tampered Ledger incident in Malaysia. I bought this wallet from an offline store listed officially on Ledger’s website. The pre-modified hardware stole all my crypto on Oct 10. Most funds were personal loans.
I reported to the Malaysian police, but I cannot afford lawyer fees to formally open the case. I have submitted all evidence to Ledger, and Ledger has agreed to receive the compromised wallet for hardware forensic analysis.

To the hacker who drained all my Bitcoin:

You stole all my Bitcoin using a tampered Ledger hardware wallet. Most of these funds were raised through personal loans. I fully trusted the Ledger brand and bought this hardware wallet from an offline store listed officially on Ledger’s website in Malaysia. I believed hardware wallets were the safest way to protect my crypto assets. I never expected that the store sold pre-modified, compromised devices.

When I found out all my Bitcoin was stolen on October 10th, I was crushed by overwhelming debt pressure and suffered day and night. I finally understand what it means to turn grey overnight. I rushed to the police station in Malaysia immediately, arrived at 3 p.m., and gave a full statement of the whole theft incident. However, under local requirements, I need to hire a paid local lawyer to formally open a police case. The heavy loan burden already broke me financially, and I cannot afford expensive legal fees, so my police case is stuck.

I have submitted all evidence to Ledger: purchase documents, the full set of 14 stolen BTC outgoing transaction records with every transaction ID, source and destination addresses, and full on-chain history. Ledger has made an exception to accept my compromised device for hardware forensic analysis. I am currently staying in Malaysia and ready to ship this faulty wallet anytime.

I am not wealthy. The stolen crypto is almost everything I own. Burdened by loans and with no income, my family and life are on the brink of collapse. I cannot bear this massive loss. I sincerely beg you to show mercy and return part of the stolen funds. This money is my lifeline; it can help me pay down heavy debts and save my life.

I also appeal to all reputable on-chain investigators and the crypto community. Please see my story, help track these stolen funds and support my case.

@Ledger @Ledger_Support I am an actual victim of the recent Ledger reseller tampering incident in Malaysia.

At the beginning of June, I saw an offline store listed on Ledger’s official website. As an ordinary consumer, I fully believed that any physical store shown on Ledger official site was a genuine official shop. I had absolutely no knowledge of third-party authorized resellers or the risk of hardware tampering. On June 4, I bought my Ledger device at this offline store with full trust in the Ledger brand.

On October 10, I suddenly found all Bitcoin assets in my Ledger wallet were stolen. Most of my investment funds came from loans. I entered the market based on positive market expectations and chose Ledger purely for its reputation of safety. There are many hardware wallet options on the market, and I picked Ledger only because I trusted it.

After discovering the massive loss, I rushed to the police station in Malaysia. I arrived at 3 p.m. and went through my full statement at the case centre. Unfortunately, local police told me I need to hire a paid local lawyer to formally open a police case. Due to heavy loan debts and severe financial hardship, I cannot afford lawyer fees now.

I am a first-time Ledger user, and this incident has shattered my family’s financial hope. I have sorted out and sent all device info, purchase records, and **the 14 stolen BTC outgoing transaction records**, including every transaction ID, source address, destination address and full on-chain details to Ledger official support ticket (Case‑00285253).

I sincerely hope Ledger can consider the standpoint of an ordinary loyal consumer, take my extreme situation seriously and provide a fair and satisfactory resolution for my huge losses.

I truly hope Ledger will keep improving. Please strengthen reseller oversight and upgrade product security so bad actors cannot tamper with devices and hurt innocent users.

I trusted Ledger deeply, and I sincerely hope Ledger will take responsibility for its users in this incident.
