I love my school. 16:30 on a Friday afternoon, I was having a beautifully in depth conversation about Romeo + Juliet with a Y11, directing her to her peers who are experts in that text; students revising; teachers conversing…gorgeous microcosm of NSG culture.
Though I didn’t get to see her the whole time, I must say @HelenJo96942206 had the magic about her as well, I feel so grateful to have such caring and joyful people around me.
Oh my goodness gracious I love my job. Got to move chairs about for the Midsummer Concert at @NSG_Music1 with @MrsHolmes_NSG —the talent of our students is awesome in the truest sense of the word. Well done all; your passion and joy shone so brightly tonight!
@CJGreenTeach I’m stuck because I both wish you were there and am not sure if I could’ve handled any more people that I look up to in there listening to me wax poetic!
Next time 💜
(I even saw this play out in my lessons. We had a free writing session on a topic and the writing produced was beyond anything my students have produced before—they paid attention and crafted magic; many times it was in the form of a poem as well.)

I loved doing it. I’m only upset my beloved y10s didn’t get to see it. They did ask me about it once I picked them up from their science exam and asked to post it on their Google classroom.
Next assembly will be even better, I’m sure of it.
I’m most proud of all the teachers and kids (and there were more than a few) who came up and said they have a new or renewed appreciation for poetry. It IS magic. And it’s a magic anyone can conjure so long as they pay attention.
