“Nessuno può sostituire
Richard Wright.
Richard William Wright,
membro fondatore, cantautore

Fifty-one years ago today, Pink Floyd released Wish You Were Here. The cover being wrapped in black plastic resulted in a compromise for retailers, when the round, handshake sticker was added. The handshake itself represents the empty gesture of the greeting, particularly in business settings, and the four quarters behind represent the four classical elements — earth, air, fire, and water. These are expanded on in the interior artwork...
When Dolly Parton approached Robert Plant for permission to record her version of “Stairway to Heaven,” she reportedly worried about how he would react. Instead, Plant’s response was wonderfully simple: “Of course you can, you’re Dolly Parton.”
And somehow, that feels like the perfect answer. Dolly didn’t try to copy Led Zeppelin — she took one of rock’s most iconic songs and made it unmistakably her own, adding a touch of country, gospel, and her unmistakable voice.
Sometimes, a legend recognizing another legend is all the permission you need.

There's a total solar eclipse occurring today, visible in a number of locations, so it's a good day to look back to April 20th, 2023, when an eclipse was visible in Western Australia, and eight lucky Pink Floyd fans were able to witness it, accompanied by a purpose built pyramid and the playback of The Dark Side Of The Moon, perfectly timed to conclude as totality occurred. Here's a documentary about the event: https://t.co/EnFwAy8tCV
Pink Floyd keyboard maestro Richard Wright seated behind his grand piano outdoors in Cambridgeshire back in May 1969. Shot during the photo sessions for the gatefold artwork of Ummagumma, this creative perspective catches Rick surrounded by nature and the band's touring gear right as Pink Floyd was pushing the boundaries of avant-garde space rock.
