The Latin text on the map, translated into English is as follows: the mountain in the middle commonly referred to as rupis nigra or "Black Rock", could be the magnetic lode stone that controls the flow of earth's magnetic fields. Rupas can also be translated (cliff, pit, abyss, bowels) so the four rivers draw inward toward the center of the earth and empty themselves into the bowels of the earth to be filtered and circulated throughout the earth.

(This channel has 3 mouths as entryways, and it remains frozen for about 3 months each year. It has a latitude of 37 leagues.)

(This island is the best and healthiest of the whole northern region.)

(The ocean is broken up into 19 mouths with islands between them, making 4 channels. Through these, the ocean is carried unceasingly underneath the northern region, and there it is absorbed into the bowels of the earth. The rocky landmass underneath the pole has a circumference of about 33 leagues.)

"in septentrionalibus partibus Bargu insule sunt inquit (M. Paulus Ven. lib. 1. cap. 51), que tantum vergunt ad aquilonem, ut polus arcticus illis videatur ad meridiem deflectere "

(In the northern parts of Bargu there are islands, says Marco Polo the Venetian (Book 1, Chapter 51), which lie so far north that the arctic pole seems to be south of them.)

@CatDad0409 @patrickbetdavid I didn't force her, just convinced her it was insane. She could get a starter job at McDonald's making more than what they were willing to pay. After she quit they called back a few months later to offer her job back during COVID for $13/hr. They could've afforded it all along.

@CatDad0409 @patrickbetdavid If 1% deserve all the money, why shouldn't the bottom 1% get a slight boost? These aren't all teenage jobs. My wife was a CNA making $7.25/hr an hour until I made her quit. It was actually insane the amount of work they were having her do, while paying her that rate.

@patrickbetdavid 350,000-850,000 people still earn $7.25/hr. That's $16,000 annually. I'm a small business owner and I think that's actually criminal. Forcing them to bump their wages up to even $12/hr would be a drastic improvement for a large swath of Americans.

@patrickbetdavid These are people like CNA's who care for elderly and infirm. The people who own these facilities can absolutely afford to pay them $12-$15/hr but they don't, they just accept the high turnover.
