Reimagining education to truly include disabled students is a reflection of Indian democracy.
It is not about mere presences but ensuring the access, achievement and participation of all children in the educational system.

Aisha Giwa asserts “if the South is worth knowing and exploring, voices from the global South should be heard in knowing the South”. Powerful examples from within @CaNDER_Research by Drs Carly Christensen & @seemanath. Their voice is embedded in the longer talk (link below). 7/9
Research and mentorship requires commitment, solidarity, scholarship, community and much more and over the years @nsingal14 you have exemplified what it means to support and nurture researchers, students and disseminating research as a collective and embedding it in our practices
Inclusive education is not something that is only done out there, it needs to be embedded in our practices (including in higher education). 9/9

I write about my journey at national Law school of India University, Bangalore for @the_hindu.
And I trace the need for crafting ex-ante policies for disability inclusion instead of ad-hoc kindness because kind people are not there all the time.

Looking forward to being back at my favourite conference #ukfiet , especially after the year it has been.
Thanks @baicenews!! Will be such an honour doing this keynote as the BAICE President. Truly humbled🙏🏾
As a reminder, disabled people are often absent from public spaces, especially in India, not because they don't want to be out in the world but because public spaces are not designed for their presence.
Traveling while disabled is frustrating and exhausting reminder that the world is not designed for disabled people. Once again, boarding a flight left me in pain and anger and tears. It's incredibly frustrating how difficult airlines make it to request wheelchairs in India.
