அவர்தான் 98 வயதான திரு.மாக்கன்லால் சர்க்கார். சுதந்திரத்திற்குப் பிந்தைய இந்தியாவில் ஜனசங்கத்தின் அடிமட்ட அளவில் தீவிரமாக செயல்பட்ட மூத்த தொண்டர்களில் ஒருவர்.

1952 ஆம் ஆண்டு காஷ்மீரில் நமது இந்திய மூவர்ணக் கொடியை ஏற்றுவதற்கான போராட்டத்தின் போது, ஜனசங்கத்தின் நிறுவனரான திரு.சியாமா பிரசாத் முகர்ஜி அவர்களுடன் இணைந்து சென்று கைதான தியாகி.

1980 இல் பாரதிய ஜனதா கட்சி தொடங்கப்பட்ட பிறகு, மேற்கு தினாஜ்பூர், ஜல்பைகுரி மற்றும் டார்ஜிலிங் ஆகிய மாவட்டங்களின் அமைப்பு ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளராகப் பொறுப்பேற்று, ஒரே ஆண்டில் 10,000 பேரை கட்சியில் இணைத்தவர்.

அப்போதைய ஆளும் அரசின் அடக்குமுறைகளால் எந்த ஒரு தலைவரும் இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேல் ஒரே பதவியில் தாக்குப் பிடிக்க முடியாத அந்த கடுமையான காலகட்டத்தில், 1981 முதல் தொடர்ந்து ஏழு ஆண்டுகள் மாவட்டத் தலைவராகப் பணியாற்றி அசாத்திய சாதனை படைத்தவர்.

இன்று, மேற்கு வங்கத்தில் பா.ஜ.க தனது முதல் அரசாங்கத்தை அமைக்கும் இந்த வரலாற்றுச் சிறப்புமிக்க நாளில், அதே மேடையில் அவரைப் பெருமைப்படுத்தி அவரது காலில் விழுந்து ஆசி பெற்றார் பிரதமர் திரு.நரேந்திர மோடி அவர்கள்.

தங்களை வளர்த்தெடுத்த மூத்தவர்களையும், தியாகம் செய்த அடிமட்டத் தொண்டர்களையும் இப்படி நெஞ்சார மதித்து கொண்டாடும் பண்பு பா.ஜ.க-வில் மட்டும் தான் சாத்தியம்!
