As a human rights defenders’ association in Europe, we respectfully urge the international community to review its engagement with the current military-backed government, and to make that engagement conditional on democratic governance and respect for fundamental rights.
With a further long march planned, we are deeply concerned by the Interior Minister's public statements suggesting a renewed use of force against peaceful demonstrators.
We call on the UN, the EU and international partners to monitor the situation closely and to uphold their commitments to human rights, the rule of law and accountability.

Disagree with his politics, but the way Imran Khan continues to dominate domestic and global news cycles despite being incarcerated is the stuff of legends.

One only hopes he puts this extraordinary political capital to good use, henceforth.

There was a real risk of Imran Khan dying in jail, a risk that the Pakistani military regime cannot afford at this time.
Govt letting him get minimal treatment is not a concession in any way, it is not even 1% of his rights they owe him.
