@baseballcrank 2. To me, the risks vs. benefits of owning muskets then is different from automatic weapons now. The threat of a lone gunman with a musket was relatively small vs. the benefits (hunting, militia). But the threat of a lone gunman with an automatic weapon may outweigh the benefits.
@baseballcrank 1. My understanding is the 2nd Amendment originally applied only to the Federal government. States were free to enact whatever gun laws they liked. It wasn't until the 1920s that courts started ruling the 14th Amendment "incorporated" the Bill of Rights to apply to the states.
@NateSilver538 What are your thoughts on reports that insiders may have made large trades about the Iran attack on prediction markets?
I thought your article on the NBA betting scandals was informative, so I’m interested in your expert opinion on the issue.
@davidfrum@TheAtlantic In 2016, 538 gave Clinton a 72% chance of winning. That’s about the same odds as flipping a coin twice and getting heads at least once. The fact that Trump managed to get tails twice in a row is unusual, but hardly proof that the polls were “wrong”.
@baseballcrank I'm sympathetic to the idea. But I'm also a believer in Chesterton's Fence, so I'd like to better understand why the USDA was put in charge before I would want the USDA removed.
But the referee seemed to allow play to continue until the tackle at the Ram's 41. When the Fox broadcast resumed, the clock still read 1:23, but the ball was at the Ram's 41.
@NFLFootballOps Was there an officiating error during the Raven's recovery of the Stafford fumble? The umpire signaled "stop clock" when the ball was initially recovered near the 50 with 1:23 on the clock. The clock appeared to stop.
@baseballcrank I read the Bluesky thread. I think Ken was saying that he would rather be a dead American than a live Trumper, like the old “better dead than Red” slogan.
I don’t think it was meant as any kind of threat towards Trump supporters.
@MarkMeuser The problems I have with this theory is that the Texas Governor and Legislature have repeatedly claimed their Congressional districts were not based on race. Therefore, the 5th District's ruling is not a justification for redistricting now.

@NateSilver538 I agree the evidence for “Robinson is a Groyper” was weak. But I think it’s an exaggeration to say “no evidence whatsoever”.
The weak evidence was:
-Father was a MAGA Republican
-wore a Pepe costume for Halloween
-“Bella Ciao” engraving

@TP4myBunghol@Acyn You’re right, the specific example Trump gave would be “I reduced drug costs 250%”.
I was just trying to give a similar example using Trump’s apparent formula.
