In Kenya Startup world if you ever get to pitch to these three ladies, my brother you have already made it in life. They one of the maddest builders I have ever listened to . These are in my top 10
It's a classic sign of a colonized mind when someone mistakes "serving the master" for a business strategy. No one is telling you not to sell your chicken; we're telling you to stop being dazzled by the "Macron" brand and missing that the bill is charged to your children.
The math you're missing: While you're excited about the profit from one meal, the government is signing Ksh 116 billion in fresh debt. That debt will hike your taxes and push fuel to $98 a barrel. By the time you finish that dinner, the inflation from these lopsided deals will have swallowed your "chicken profit" ten times over.
Real Pan-Africanism isn't about refusing to trade; it's about refusing to be the waiter in your own house while a fading empire dictates the price of the chairs.
You aren't a "hustler" you're a distraction. Some people aren't being "colonized again" because they never stopped being colonized.
Africa comes first, or it doesn't. Pick a side.

The finance bill 2026 will affect us negatively as follows;
1. Rental income tax has been raised from 7.5% to 10%.(Brace yourself for increased rent)
2. Mitumba traders, brace yourselves.
Import a bale at Ksh1M → Pay Ksh50K tax upfront.
3. They’re removing VAT exemptions on mobile money and digital payments. This will increase the cost of sending money.
4. KRA can now decide 60% of your company’s retained earnings are “dividends” and tax you anyway.
5. An introduction 25% excise duty on phones.
6. Banks won’t absorb new compliance costs. Let’s be serious.
You will.
7. They’ve moved tax return deadlines from June to APRIL.
Tough times ahead.
Kenya’s imported cars face total taxes of about 70%–100% of their value, pushing prices higher.
Here is the explanation of how the taxes are structured.

Safaricom Kenya Directors’ shareholding:
As at 31 March 2025, directors held the following shares:
✅Dr. Peter Ndegwa: 8.74M shares (up from 6.21M in 2024)
✅Dilip Pal: 2.22M shares (up from 1.34M)
✅Winnie Ouko: 101,831 shares (unchanged)
✅Rose Ogega: 2,000 shares (unchanged)
👉 Key takeaway:
While no director owns more than 1% of the company, increased holdings by senior directors signal confidence in the business.
Sh 1M in an MMF may yield Sh 90,000 (net of 15% withholding tax) annually.
Sh 1M in SACCOs may pay Sh 110,000 depending on allocation sizes to both share capital and deposits.
Sh 1M shillings in StanChart stocks now yields over Sh 145,000 dividend.
But Sh 1M in a special multi-asset fund yields about Sh 200K p.a.
how to have fun as an adult:
> stop making everything productive - not every hobby needs to "go somewhere"
> it’s ok to try something new and be bad at it!! you’re not being graded anymore!!
> say yes to spontaneous plans even when you're tired - some of the best nights are unplanned
> hang out with people who make you laugh, not just people who "make sense"
> cap venting to 30% of your total hang time; your friends aren't free therapy
> plan ONE thing each week that you'd look forward to
> you can start simple - work somewhere new, walk somewhere new, eat something new
> take a random class just for fun - pottery, dance, improv, cooking
> do things that make you feel like a kid again - dance in the rain, run through the sprinklers, game night
> surround yourself with people who make you feel lighter - your time and energy is precious
> be 5% more silly in your life. sing badly in the car, dance in your room, crack a bad joke. let's grow the silly muscle
> stop opting for boring hangs. switch things up with your friends. try something new!!
> talk to strangers - at coffee shops, events, literally anywhere. serendipity maxx
> don't forget the basics: move your body, get sunlight, take your vitamins, eat well, sleep
> your time to live life is happening NOW so stop saving it for later!!
we forgot that life is supposed to be FUN ya'll
lets go PLAY!!!
you got this!!!
Let’s be factual. NSE stocks performed better in 2025, but the figures being circulated are exaggerated. Most big companies delivered gains in the 20% to 60% range including dividends, not 2–4× returns. Let’s promote data, not hype.

Entry level Interview.....
Interviewer: Tell me about yourself
Answer:
Thank you very much for this opportunity. My name is XYZ, and I'm a graduate of XOXO from the University of Amos Nsemeke.
I have proficiency in email management, calendaring, research, and I am a team player with attention to detail.
I am familiar with Microsoft tools and packages like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. I am also skilled in Canva, Notion, and Trello.
I have experience using virtual meeting platforms like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
I have more to share, but I would like to stop here for now. 😁 (This will make everyone to smile)
This is simple and straight to point and avoid unnecessary personal stories.
HR will always be HR.
You can’t actually predict what they’ll do. Your email could be perfect and still get ignored.
But if you want to increase your chances, like genuinely boost your reply rate, the first thing is to ditch those tired intros everybody uses.
Please, avoid “I hope this email finds you well.”
If you send that to me, I won’t give you the job. I’ll just shake my head and close the tab. 😂
Here are a few things you should be doing to get a positive response about 60% of the time:
1. Start with something specific about them, not you.
Not the “I love what your company is doing" kind of mail.
Something real. Something they actually tweeted, posted, or updated on their website.
Something like:
“Your new product update on bla bla bla caught my attention." Or "The way you handled xyzzzz shows you’re really paying attention to customer pain points.”
Short, direct and human.
2. Tell them the exact gap you noticed in their company and why fixing it matters.
You must do your research well before doing this.
(I have a story in an unreleased episode of my CREATORS' DIARY SERIES where I interviewed a lady that used this strategy well)
3. Prove your skill in one sentence. Be bold about it.
Just a quick line like:
“I’ve helped a fintech brand increase blog traffic by 87% using a similar strategy.”
That alone buys you attention.
4. Make your ask small.
No “Can we schedule a 30-minute call?”
No HR wants that.
You can try:
“I can send a quick breakdown of what I’d improve if you’re open to it.”
5. Keep the entire email under 12 lines. This is my personal opinion though because when I was still actively looking for a 9-5 job, I always get replies to emails under 12 lines.
At the end of the day, all these does not matter. Because, you can get a reply and still get rejected during interview.
Wish you all the best💚🙏
